I recall a CAF Senior Officer talking about a recent calculation of time lost submitting travel claims through an antiquated process - which amounted to thousands of hours and dollars lost to do something that should be automated by now.
Excellent thread from Kayle on the importance of addressing sludge - needless or positive behaviour-inhibiting processes, paperwork or barriers. #Sludge Audits are important exercises to determine how much time and money waste is happening - Depts need to embrace these.
When groups meet to brainstorm, good ideas are lost. People bite their tongues due to conformity pressure, noise, and ego threat.
A better approach is brainwriting: generate ideas separately, then meet to assess and refine.
Group wisdom begins with individual creativity.
Another stellar thread from @CAFinUS - this tweet in particular spoke to me. Wishing a safe weekend to all our @CanadianForces members doing all these things and more and to my @NationalDefence colleagues supporting them.
IM & T acronym is likely to be changed to include IM & T, Data and Digital. Lots of great input into a new VCDS/CFD PRICIEG Guide (one didn’t exist before). This is a crucial step in ensuring effective #DigitalTransformation.

Excited to see a thread from @MidOfficer on PRICIEG, which is currently being revised to include @DIADND_DIAMDN data considerations. Data foundations ie management/governance and quality are not currently considered. Trying to fix that with CFD/VCDS help!
Options Analysis is up next, where a detailed look is taken at the potential solutions from ID, and a single recommended option is chosen. The big task here is the full business case analysis, including the PRICIEG, which is a way to assess all the factors in a capability.
@MidOfficer @DIADND_DIAMDN Haha that would have been fantastic but probably a bit of overreach on DIA’s part. I was trying for “PRICED-G”, which isn’t as good but I kind of liked.
💯 - it is the cause of the majority of global instability, political polarization and general animosity. We need to understand it and deal with it rapidly as a society or we will continue suffer long-enduring consequences.
The more carefully I look at disinformation; the more I consult with international colleagues; the more I believe this is the most immediate and existential threat to democracy and the public interest. It is incredibly disturbing
@JulietMcMurren @NatSecMicah I always find Steven Pinker’s books bring great perspective on these issues - they’re thoroughly researched and support the general progress narrative. We as humans have recency and availability biases that muddy the waters, but the pace of human progress is only accelerating.
With all this talk about 2%, two things concern me:
1. Injecting money without a defence policy review, strategic objectives, or force employment concept.
2. How many people seem to think the '94 White Paper was something unique.
A thrilling 🧵tour of post-WW2 defence policy!
Super proud to have worked with Teresa in a number of roles and very humbled by the achievements of all the women at DND/CAF, most notably my colleagues @yooulia, @JulietMcMurren and @RabsH79. #IWD2022
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Thank you Teresa Hebb for your significant contributions to your community and to the #DefenceTeam.

I’m probably gonna die on this boring hill but: we need media literacy to be taught in K-12 and beyond. It needs to be part of how you learn to read and write at this point, how you consume, research, and communicate information. The stakes are too high to wait
