We study how individual differences in behaviour emerge, are maintained and the role they play in adaptation processes in link with conservation @univgroningen
Who is sticklelab? Marion Nicolaus, @aparajitha_, @JakobGismann. We are behavioural ecologists @univgroningen. We study individual differences in #sticklebacks in the field and in mesocosms using remote RFID tracking technologies. Stay tuned for upcoming exciting results!
I'm so excited!! The craziest experiment you've read about in a long while and crown jewel of my PhD is now published with @SpringerNature in @NatureEcoEvo!
Can dispersal help birds adapt to climate change? Read our paper here: https://t.co/tsxkCpJkzi or in the thread below[1/8]
If you’d like to know a bit more about what we @sticklelab do, about our latest paper and the story behind the picture of one of our beautiful stickles that made the cover…here’s a short blog post for you 🐟🐟🐟

A new PhD position is available in the sticklelab at the University of Groningen on animal personality as a driver of reproductive isolation?

@aparajitha_@JakobGismann We also observed movement in the system over several days and found this pattern to be repeatable, robust to manipulation of ecological context (with and without water flow) and groups size manipulation
the project was led by @aparajitha_ and @JakobGismann

New paper from the sticklelab ✨✨✨
We show that ecologically relevant setups can be crucial in uncovering differences in movement behaviours between populations!
And one of our stickies even made the cover🤩

@aparajitha_@JakobGismann We found that stickles recently isolated into freshwater habitats ('residents') move much less than the ones from the ancestral migratory population, BUT only at large spatial scales between ponds‼️

Hamilton’s force of selection before maturity: New preprint!
Here I show that, rather than remaining constant, the force of selection generally increases before maturity for as long as offspring depend on their parent!

@mavromatika@AnikaWohlleben@scz_lucie Yes, you are credited under every picture of the poster! Sorry if the low resolution doesn't show it and for the misunderstanding
The call for submitting symposium proposals for Behaviour 2023 is now open!👏
- Any behaviour theme
- 5-10 oral presentations (1-2 invited speakers)
- Deadline: 1st Dec 2022
- Submission via [email protected]
For detailed instructions visit: https://t.co/mBk3lR0dLB
So happy for the opportunity to give a talk and represent @sticklelab at #ISBE2022! Barriers to migration lead to divergence in morphology and a plethora of behavioural traits in #stickleback populations with genetic underpinnings.
