@dbentley@GreaseTheTreads@SeveredData You were asked "what's uniquely different" but what you've written there might also be true of a drunk driver who crashed into a family car, parents both killed and the child sustained a disabling injury, brain damage, paralysis.
Or of an arsonist.
Or of a murderer.
🤷
@NotYourMate@bogeybi@AreeqChowdhury "You don't see russia announcing their local election winners in English" But they weren't announcing election winners. 🤷 So what's the relevance?
@absurdist__ @iky_fwjett "exactly how you want it" Why did you leave out the "just don't shave it" bit? You know the one cut she said she wanted to do?
Honest misunderstanding and misrepresentation or a disingenuous one?
@VinnySuperstarr@00sfield "make it relative" makes no sense.
You build for the transport mix you're aiming for, not what there is.
Do you decide whether a footbridge is needed by counting the number of people trying to run across a dual carriageway?
@cupcake7166@jones_amgwagon@but_cyclists@NeverteIImeodd What you're calling "road tax" is VED hand is calculated on based on the emissions. So you want cyclists and presumably pedestrians to pay to use the public highway based on their emissions too. Is that what you're getting at?
@wanderer_bolton@richardparke15@lawrencenewport I also note that the article you screengrabbed is one simply in favour of "increasing bicycle helmet use".
I'm glad to see you dialling back from your previous "Compulsory helmet use" position. Or do you disagree with your own reference?
@wanderer_bolton@richardparke15@lawrencenewport Who says I'm too vain to wear a helmet?
Who am I discouraging from choosing to wear a helmet?
I'm in favour of critical thinking. You're not. The numbers you linked to prove as much.
"in the event of a crash" Apply your critical thinking skills to that phrase for starters.
@wanderer_bolton@richardparke15@lawrencenewport You call something "bollards" but fail to construct an actual argument in response.
Yes I am aware that per mile cycled head injuries in the Netherlands are far lower than the UK. What point were you hoping to make?
@wanderer_bolton@richardparke15@lawrencenewport The benefits of cycling have been shown to massively outweigh the risks. Painting cycling as a dangerous activity by wearing a helmet may discourage others from taking it up. As such is helmet wearing a good example? I see the Dutch approach to cycling as a good example.
@wanderer_bolton@richardparke15@lawrencenewport I've seen people claim lots of things about the UK that don't actually apply to the UK. Why would your comment automatically be different?
For instance I've seen people incorrectly claim "pedestrians always have priority" so many times it isn't even funny.
@wanderer_bolton@richardparke15@lawrencenewport You need to do better. Calling a fact "claptrap" and 💩 just because you don't like it is not an intelligent way to approach things. Why not address the obvious flaws of the entirely correctly statistic? I can see them. Can't you?
@wanderer_bolton@richardparke15@lawrencenewport So because you weren't capable of being clear it's everybody else's.😅 I was a toddler once too, frustrated that people couldn't understand me.
