Our long-range responses had a very significant impact in the Moscow region last night. One of Russia’s key oil industry facilities and the aggressor’s logistics facility were hit. These are billions of dollars that sustain the war machine. The systems used included FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, Palianytsia, Vendetta, Liutyi, Bars, Flamingo, Sichen, and Pelican.

I thank our warriors for their accuracy: the Security Service of Ukraine together with the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, and the Foreign Intelligence Service. Sanctions were also imposed on a facility in the Voronezh region. Moscow must end its brutal war and choose peace instead of building layered rings of air defense at the expense of other regions. Steps toward de-escalation are on the table – in energy and food security. What is needed is political will. I thank everyone who is strengthening Ukraine’s long-range capabilities. 🔥🛢️One of the most incredible sequences from today’s attack on Moscow: a Ukrainian MICH-2000 long-range strike drone pushes through a wall of Russian air-defense fire and successfully reaches the Moscow Oil Refinery grounds.

For a long time, the MICH-2000 was one of Ukraine’s most secretive long-range strike drones, kept under strict OPSEC and operated exclusively by the SSU.

MORE: The Russian MoD claimed on September 19 that Russian forces have seized over 5,300 square kilometers and more than 220 settlements in Ukraine since the start of 2026, including over 670 square kilometers and 27 settlements so far in September 2026. ISW has observed evidence to assess that Russian forces have seized only 147.7 square kilometers and 40 settlements, but have lost a net of 20 settlements in 2026. Including areas into which Russian forces have infiltrated but do not control brings the total Russian gains to 718.8 square kilometers this year, still far below the Russian MoD’s September 19 claims.

ISW has observed evidence to assess that Ukrainian forces, on the other hand, have liberated at least 972.56 square kilometers and 60 settlements in 2026. The Russian MoD’s September 19 claims are part of a longstanding Kremlin effort to use aggrandized claims of battlefield advances to convince Ukraine and its partners that Ukrainian defenses will collapse and that Ukraine should surrender in the face of an allegedly inevitable Russian victory.

Exaggerated Russian claims likely also result from the culture of pervasive lying within the Russian military. Ukrainian forces have, in fact, successfully contested both the strategic and the operational initiative since late 2025, having held Russian forces to near-zero gains since March 2026 and having conducted successful counterattacks that have liberated significant amounts of territory in the Kupyansk, Oleksandrivka, and Lyman directions.

This is Jupiter — the heaviest world in the Solar System — shot from so close that NASA’s Juno was skimming the cloud tops, not admiring them from the postcard distance of Earth. What looks like oil on canvas is ammonia, water, and hydrogen tearing itself into vortices. Some of those swirls are wider than our entire planet. There is no ground under them. No coastline. No mountain to break the wind. Just an ocean of gas going on and on, spinning at hundreds of kilometers per hour.

The colors are chemistry under stress. Whites and blues are high, cold clouds. Browns and golds are deeper, warmer layers being dragged up and shredded. Those nested coils are storms eating storms. On Earth a hurricane dies when it hits land or starves of heat. Jupiter has neither excuse. The Great Red Spot has been screaming for centuries. Smaller cyclones lock into rings at the poles and refuse to leave.

Juno did not hover. It fell past, cameras open, then climbed out again through a radiation belt that would kill most spacecraft. The image is a stolen second from a world that never stops rearranging itself. Art is what happens when physics has too much room.

On 29 July 1888, Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo about this painting of a young girl in Arles. He explained: ‘It took me my whole week (...). But in order to finish off my mousmé I had to save my mental powers.’

In the novel ‘Madame Chrysanthème’ by Pierre Loti, ‘mousmé’ refers to a young Japanese girl. Van Gogh had read the novel and, like many artists of his time, was fascinated by Japanese art and culture. This portrait was inspired by the character in the book.

A 23-year-old Iranian student detained during January’s nationwide protests said a Revolutionary Court sentenced her to death, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported on Sunday.

“I am an innocent young girl with so many hopes and dreams. Be my voice!” Najmeh Amini said in an audio message from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

Amini, an accounting student, said the sentence was issued on September 16.

Moscow joins the "Fuel starvation movement"

All Moscow residents who go to the polls, no matter which part of the city they're in, will see and talk about one thing: the Moscow Oil Refinery, ablaze across the entire capital.

And the smartest ones will rush to gas stations instead of polling places to scoop up the last of the gasoline. And that’s the right thing to do!

The Moscow fuel market has become the main target of the latest Ukrainian strikes.

Kapotnya was hit again last night and will obviously be shut down once more.
It used to produce about 3 million metric tons of gasoline per year.
The last time this plant halted operations was after a strike by Ukrainian drones on June 18.

On September 17, the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery - which produced about 2 million metric tons of gasoline annually, including for Moscow - was successfully attacked.

On September 6, the Ryazan Oil Refinery - the second-largest supplier of fuel to the Moscow region - was paralyzed. It produced more than 2 million metric tons of gasoline annually.

Since August 26, the Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez plant in Kstovo - which produced about 5 million metric tons of gasoline annually and also supplied Moscow - has been shut down.

Meanwhile, Moscow consumes approximately 5 million metric tons of automotive fuel per year, or about 14% of Russia’s total gasoline supply.

It seems that even commercial gasoline priced at 150 rubles will disappear from stores in Moscow today. And when it does reappear - due to the "fuel shortage" in the regions - the price will already be significantly higher.
