The Coach & Horses
📍178 Stoke Newington High St, London
The Coach & Horses is located on busy Stoke Newington High Street, close to the junction with Church Street.
Originally a coach house dating from the 1700s, the current pub building was constructed in 1829, making it one of the oldest remaining public houses in Hackney.
This former Charrington’s pub holds some sentimental value for me. My dad used to drink here in the 1970s—he would visit on his day off from running the now-demolished Kings Arms (18s), which was located near Dalston Junction.
I loved the traditional pub experience most—the refurbishment is excellent, the beer selection top-notch, and the hospitality is the cherry on top. It’s great to know Dad’s old local is in safe hands.

The Cock Tavern
📍360 North End Rd, London SW6 1LY
The Cock Tavern is located at the bottom of North End Road in Fulham, close to Chelsea’s ground, Stamford Bridge.
First licensed in 1713 and rebuilt in 1813, it was originally known as The Cock and was leased to Meux’s Brewery, one of London’s largest breweries at the time. The building you see today dates from 1895 and was remodelled in 1931, and it has since received Grade II listed status. It was known as The Cock & Hen for a time, it was renamed the Cock Tavern in 2014. #chelsea #cocktavern
This is a stylish pub that blends old and new very well. My pint was great, the service was on point, and the atmosphere made for a very easygoing visit. It gets busy when Chelsea are at home, but make sure you check it out if you’re in the area.

Idyllic scenes from 1962. A Sunblest advert gives a glimpse of what supermarkets used to stock on their shelves. Lovely fashions from the ladies and lots of happy children.
@YesterdaysBrit1 Spitalfields after the night trade rs have gone. You would get a few people going around and picking up dropped or discarded fruit/veg, I don't think the 10sec rule applies,😄
@YesterdaysBrit1 The big dipper in the background malfunctioned, carriage rolled back, brake failed and if I remember 4/5 children died. That was 1972 and closed 1974. Sad times in a place of wonder for us kids. Memorial set up I believe.
