Polkadot Hub

Started with the Plaza, the core idea of it is to have a central bazaar place for users, builders, apps all together to play, degen, tinker, experiment on their product by giving them accessibility to all features with zero friction, synchronous composability, smart contracts, and performance—all in one place.

Essentially for Polkadot apps to deliver faster(fail fast, iterate fast), more integrated, and more user-friendly focused apps. If any finds its PMF, can easily scale out by deploying their chains.

And then there’s this JAM thing.

The Web3 supercomputer that has been promised since 2015.
• 35 teams currently building different versions. 15 programming languages.
• 100+ computation cores.
• 1GB/s data I/O.
• Targeting 1.5M+ TPS

To give some contex: Mid-range centralized data center servers often operate at around 1-10 GB/s of I/O for storage and tasks.
This is not an incremental upgrade but a serious step-up; as it proposes Polkadot’s infra will match performance metrics seen in centralized systems while staying decentralized.

i watched Gavin Wood’s 1hr talk on JAM so you won’t have to.

i thought i understood JAM but @gavofyork’s talk made me realise that i was thinking really small 🤯

JAM merges the best of Polkadot and Ethereum to fundamentally change what's possible in web3.

what is JAM? 🖥️
at the most basic level, it is a trustless supercomputer with:
- 1.6 petabytes of data hosting at 682MB/s
- 341 cores of compute functionality (~1,000,000,000,000 EVM gas/s)

anatomy of JAM 🔬

- each AMD TR core runs at 25-50% of native speed (341 cores)
- cores can fetch 2mb/s and write 2mb/s of data to storage which will be available for 1 month
- each core has computational capacity of 500m - 5bn gas/s (in Ethereum terms)
- each cores has 8kb of output bandwidth to the database
- the database has its own scripting processor that can do stuff with the 8kb of data
- this scripting core can do 1m accesses/s into the coherent synchronous database
- pre-image lookup system that gives free data lookups for the price of holding it on-chain

JAM vs status quo

Everybody was happy, that Polkadot would sell blockspace as a commodity leveraging multiple Cores, secured & tailored to needs for all Web2/Web3 projects. And burn the revenue making the protocol more deflationary 🔥

But then comes Dr Gavin Wood & says this is just a part of it & Polkadot 2.0 will be a much bigger & revolutionary concept with JAM Chain

Polkadot ⭕️🚨You think it's dead, but you're missing the context

🤯We really need to talk. It's literally the most undervalued ecosystem, and here's why!🤯

Polkadot's mainnet launched in May 2020. DOT was engineered to host Layer 1 blockchains and specialized blockchains, positioning it as a Layer 0 platform. The idea was for DOT to offer interoperability, shared security, scalability, and customization beyond the capabilities of typical Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchains. Instead of allowing just anyone to build on DOT, there are a limited number of slots available for these parachains to connect to the Relay Chain. This limitation led to some of the most serious teams competing for a spot on the Relay Chain.

Now that you understand that, consider this: Polkadot reached $54 on November 4th, 2021, at its peak, with no live products—not an L1, DEX, DeFi app, stablecoins, nothing! BTC's all-time high occurred on November 10th, 2021 (no one knew) and the altcoins will soon experience their top.

Let's turn to November 11th, when Batch 1 of the parachain auction competition started, with one winner emerging each week. Over the next five weeks, the parachain that raised the most DOT would win the slot. By December 17th, 2021, the first five auctions (Batch 1) were completed, and the winners were onboarded, each securing a 2-year lease slot on the Relay Chain

At that exact time, the bear market emerged and sucked liquidity out of the market. Over the next 12 months, really high-quality projects competed for slots. Enterprises and institutional-grade projects found themselves within the ecosystem

Why is DOT SO undervalued?

Warum ich den Sieg von Pro-#Bitcoin Präsidenten Javier Milei (noch) nicht zelebriere.

Aktuell werde ich oft gefragt was ich von dem Wahlsieg halte und warum ich nicht groß darüber berichte.

Dazu eine passenden Geschichte:
Einmal starb ein Präsident und stand vor der schwierigen Wahl zwischen Himmel und Hölle. Er bekam die außergewöhnliche Gelegenheit, beide Orte vor seiner Entscheidung zu besichtigen.

Zuerst besuchte er die Hölle. Überraschenderweise fand er dort seine Freunde und Familie vor, die fröhlich Golf spielten und sich prächtig amüsierten. Alles wirkte wie ein endloser, glücklicher Cluburlaub.

Anschließend ging es hoch in den Himmel. Auch dort war es wunderschön – friedlich, harmonisch und einfach himmlisch.

Am nächsten Tag war es Zeit für seine Entscheidung. Trotz der Schönheit des Himmels entschied er sich für die Hölle, angezogen von der lebhaften Atmosphäre und der Gesellschaft seiner alten Bekannten.

Kaum hatte er seine Wahl getroffen, fand er sich in der Hölle wieder – aber diesmal war alles anders. Kein Golf, kein Gelächter. Stattdessen standen alle in einem endlosen, trostlosen Moor und schufteten mühsam.

Verwirrt fragte der Präsident: "Aber gestern war doch alles so wunderbar hier! Warum hat sich alles so verändert?"

Die Antwort kam prompt: "Gestern war vor der Wahl, heute ist nach der Wahl!"

Selten werden Worte vor Wahlen in Taten umgewandelt. Ich lasse mich gerne eines besseren belehren.
