PRESS RELEASE
*ONDO POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS SIX SUSPECTED CULTISTS, RECOVERS WEAPONS, CHARMS AND OTHER INCRIMINATING ITEMS IN AKOKO*
The Ondo State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against cultism and other violent crimes with the arrest of six suspected cultists during a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SACS) in Akungba and Iwaro Akoko communities of the State.
The operation, which was conducted in the early hours of Tuesday, June 16, 2026, followed credible intelligence indicating the activities of suspected cult members within the affected areas. Acting on the information, operatives of Special Anti-Cultism Squad mobilized to identified locations where the suspects were apprehended.
The suspects arrested are Damilare Kayode (30), Adejoro Godwin (30), Adedapo Ogunro (36), Chisom Okechukwu (21), Ademulegun Imisi (26), and Odugunle Bukola (21). Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in activities linked to unlawful confraternities operating within the Akoko axis, a development that has continued to pose security concerns in some communities.
A thorough search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of several exhibits believed to be connected with cult-related activities. These include five battle axes, one jackknife, various criminal charms as well as confraternity paraphernalia such as boots, yellow singlets and face caps. The recovered items have been taken into police custody as exhibits and will form part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Command views the recovery of these items as a major operational success and a clear indication of its determination to proactively dismantle criminal networks before they can carry out acts capable of threatening public peace and safety. Intelligence gathered from the operation is currently being analysed to identify other members of the group and uncover the full extent of their activities within and beyond the affected communities.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, has commended the professionalism and dedication of the operatives involved in the operation. He reaffirmed the Command's unwavering commitment to the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on the suppression of cultism, violent crimes and other forms of criminality across the country.
The Commissioner of Police further assured residents of Ondo State that the Command will continue to intensify intelligence-led policing, strategic raids and visibility policing aimed at denying criminal elements any safe haven within the State. He urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.

No nation has ever built first-class roads, schools, hospitals and security on a third-class tax culture. You cannot demand Scandinavian infrastructure while insisting on Sahelian taxation. Every civilization is funded by the contributions of its citizens.

@Onsogbu Repatriation is a privilege not a right, everyone should be able to buy their flight ticket to return back home. Do you know how much it’ll cost if government continue to pay for everyone even for those that have money to buy their own flight tickets?
President Tinubu sends a constitutional amendment bill to the Senate for the establishment of state police.
The Senate will consider the constitutional amendment bill for the establishment of state police tomorrow.
The Senate President, Sen. Akpabio, announced that the states have promised to consider the state police bill on the same day once they receive it.
💔💔This boy's father was m¥rd€r€d before his eyes. He watched his world collapse in a single moment. And now, he wants to join the Nigerian Army to avenge his father's d€@th.
That is not just grief. That is resolve.
But let me be clear here, the way to avenge his father is not through revenge. It is through service. It is through wearing the uniform, training hard, and defending others from the same fate. It is through the military not through joining rival b@nd!ts group, not through taking the law into his own hands or negotiation from the government.
That boy has chosen the right path. The military is where he can channel his pain into purpose. Where he can protect other children from watching their fathers d!£. Where he can become the shield that his father did not have.
To the young boy from Magami, we see you. We hear you. And when you are ready, the Nigerian Army will welcome you. Not for REVENGE but for JUSTICE. Not for ANGER but for HONOUR.
Your father did not d!£ in vain. His d£@th will produce a soldier. And that soldier will ensure that no other child has to watch what you watched.
GOB BLESS YOU
🇳🇬🇳🇬NIGERIA WILL PREVAIL 🇳🇬🇳🇬
His points, especially about the monarchs, are valid.
How can you sit on a throne you so much dread. How can you continue to denigrate the ancestral traditions that put crown and prestige on your head—and expect things to go well in the entire land?
This is not necessarily the only problem, but truth is most of us only relate with our traditions for personal gains, as I’ve said many times. From individuals, to monarchs, to government officials from movie -makers even to some of the local priests/priestesses. How do we expect the land we do not genuinely love to yield to our advantage.
The Whites/Arabs/Asians, etc we so often look up to in all ramifications, are full of passionate love for their lands and ancestral practices. Beyond Europe, Take China and Japan as examples. we often refer to them as majorly atheists, because Abrahamic religions are unpopular in their regions. But the fact is they direct all their passions inwards. Highly traditional. They internalize and “modernise” their ancestral practices…even their govt.
Look at us afrikans/blacks. Majority of us are terribly confused. Self-hate prevails. And thus, there is hardly any powerful black/afrikan nation in the world. We have perfected the habit of proudly walking in the shadows of others.
