New from @MatthewSpindl10@jeremiahfaith1 et al. We explore the breadth of immune responses to bacterial strains from 17 human microbiomes. High-throughout culturing, in vitro screens, gnotobiotics and comparative genomics. Something for everyone! @SinaiImmunol@SinaiDoubleDocs
Look out for our oral presentation next Friday morning at #ECCO2020! We will be discussing early pilot results and key host mechanisms by which FMT appears to work in UC.
Our review on the evidence to date for mechanisms of FMT in IBD is now online! Exciting data from @stopcolitis that will build on this will hopefully be presented early next year! @TariqFMT @walaahepgast

More evidence for the efficacy of FMT in UC by Sam Costello et al.! Great study consisting of 69 patients that shows remission rate of 32% for donor FMT with anaerobically prepared stool.

@Neil_J_Smart@stevebrownsheff To be honest I think although at the moment surgery is the best option I think @stopcolitis will radically change how we treat UC making surgery less likely...
We think probiotics should work in #IBD but to date the clinical trials have failed to show this effect clearly. #FMT looks very promising in #UC but is probably not a cure and may need repeat therapy. @stopcolitis is a UK study aiming to address unanswered questions. #FGDEBATE
However many questions remained unanswered including those around outcomes based on adequate sample size estimates, FMT preparation and treatment regime, durability of primary outcomes, and very importantly how it works! @pathogenomenick@KGerasimidis@TariqFMT@NabilQuraishi
Effect of Fecal Microbiota Transplantation on 8-Week Remission in Patients With Ulcerative Colitis https://t.co/heHO8g8l5O @TariqFMT@stopcolitis@NabilQuraishi
We are conducting one of the largest clinical trials to date in FMT for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Through this trial we hope to understand not just if it works but also why it works. Head over to @stopcolitis for more details!
Cochrane review presentation on #FMT in #IBD - low to moderate strength evidence. Some efficacy at week 8, but not at week 12. #DDW18 My take is that further RCTs are needed before we recommend FMT for IBD patients @stopcolitis
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Donate your poo for @stopcolitis and get £100 worth of vouchers for it. Details below... 💩💩💩💩 #trials@BiSTC1 @UoB_IAHR @unibirm_MDS @unibirmingham Please RT
