@OffTheRosterPod We'll have to wait and see. McKenna, had he stayed in the WHL, would likely have put up historic numbers that would have changed this narrative entirely. Instead he went and played with 24 year olds and had to adjust for half the year and learned and grew - and then dominated.
@Pushit82@KKurzNHL And just to be clear - regardless it works out that both picks end up being unprotected but the existing clause gives the illusion of choice - but there's no way Toronto chooses Boston if it comes to that.
@Pushit82@KKurzNHL Not really. If that were true the Leafs wouldn't choose who got the top 10 pick in 2027. The choice exists because of the protection clause to Philly. Technically the clauses on the Philly trade haven't been invoked yet. The clause is still in effect.
@PierreVLeBrun So he resigned 2.75 years ago. If he'd been suspended for what he did, I think it's "time served" if they felt Bowman's 2.5 years for being an accessory after the fact to a rapist was sufficient. Checking a guy's phone as his boss is a dick move, but these aren't equivalent.
@RzZapperz@Avry Most people strongly believe that Red Wing team was a dynasty that he managed to keep up just one cup. He talks a good game about being a good pro. The results are more than questionable.
@OgiOgilthorp@mike_stl@Banx_Leaf Any of Cowan, Danford, Quillan, Haymes, Groulx, Aktyamov or Hildeby could have roles. Featured? That's a big word. The big names _featured_ on NHL Playoff teams usually aren't toiling around in the AHL very long. Unsung heroes and role players can be found anywhere - even there.
@torontobaghead 1. Kypreos is an unreliable source.
2. Lavy has a short shelf life and is poor with young guys. We need to instill culture from the youth.
3. Lavy plays more dump and chase hockey and relies heavily on goaltending. We just got rid of that.
If there was any truth, we got lucky.
@BobHenryRob@fuzzpuke@Shoeless__Joe@PhoenixGolf55@ByMattWeyrich This is the challenge with all of it. Those are not equivalent sentences. "The fielder is moving to tag the runner," isn't the same as what you have here.
He caught the ball and did move in the runner's direction but where is the tag attempt made? It's dumb but it's the crux.
@joeyferg I struggle with the idea of Pavelski. He never won a cup but reached the finals twice. He wasn't the best player on his team during either of those runs, either (Couture & Heiskanen were). Pavelski never won a single major award. Does he even hate losing enough?
Prove it first.
@mike_stl@Banx_Leaf@OgiOgilthorp Like who?
You can pore over Twitter to find dumb comments everywhere. They allow humans on Twitter and humans are frequently dumb.
But reasonable arguments couldn't be made to that effect.
The Marlies run has helped validate opinions on some depth options and future pieces.
@JFreshHockey Ultimately the Wings don't need to trade Larkin and if Yzerman can't get fair value for him from the teams listed, then he doesn't get traded unless he softens his list. He's late to the party here - those teams don't come with a lot of items in the pantry to choose from.
@Shoeless__Joe@PhoenixGolf55@ByMattWeyrich Let's say the rule is bizarre and I thought he was out. But as the rule is written - Clement is almost at his widest arc away when the hand moves out towards him - that's the "tag attempt - so the base path is probably within that 3 feet. It's not when the ball is caught.
@JeffVeillette And these are heavily depleted farms. I mean you're looking at Stramel or Connolly as your top available prospects in those pools. Florida has nothing left. The other two have scrapings. The Wings need different options to make a fair value trade.
@james_shea@WatchMyReview Certainly but I don't think I see a lot of NHL in Tverberg or Pare. Maybe bottom-6 or tweener in Groulx, Haymes, Quillan... The AHL is a mixed bag and doesn't really reflect meaningful prospect depth anyway.
@RobertConner@NHL If Dowd doesn't hit Ehlers into the net, that's no goal, but it's not interference - it's dumb by Dowd.
Barbashev skates through Andersen's head in the blue paint - that interference all day. He's lucky he wasn't penalized for it.
I don't know what you guys are bitching about.
@NHL_Muse If you're not picking Schaeffer, you should consider your bias and look at it again. Both Dahlin and Hutson are awesome but Schaeffer is on another level.
@dstaples Wishful thinking. Marleau's 7.7% of the cap for one year cost a 1st to unload. Nurse is at 8.9% of the cap and has similarly depreciable value. He has a buyout proof contract (you save only $700k per year for 4 years and get back only $460k for the next 4). It'll cost them.
