As of September this year frontline appliances are being “temporarily” withdrawn from Glenrothes and Methil. With The High Reach appliance being taken from Kirkcaldy as well This is detrimental to safety and prevention @thecourieruk @FBUeastscotland @FifeCouncil @FifeFreePressEd

N05A1 in action. What's going to happen with this kind of incident in Fife after 8am tomorrow, when this height appliance, a fire engine from Methil, Glenrothes and Dunfermline are removed from Service? This incident had fire engines from most of Fife Fire Stations.

These cuts to Fife appliances will have a detrimental impact on rural communities within Fife. These appliances regularly back up RDS stations both at incidents and during stand by cover. These cuts will have serious consequences!! #CutsLeaveScars @FBUScotland @FbuEast

On-Call Fire Stations in Fife are going to be detrimentally effected by these cuts. On both sides, here’s some reasons
1) less Wholetime pumps to cover stations when appliances aren’t available in on-call areas
2) more On-Call appliances being relied on to standby at stations(1)

So the big question is.. who and what appliances will be getting sent to maintain coverage in on call areas when they’re not available? It won’t be Glenrothes or methil anyway as their second appliance is gone 🤷🏻‍♂️ will they just be left without cover?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m aware that wildfires like this aren’t commonplace in the UK but just look at London last year. Stripping the fire service is going to lead to increased risk to property and public! We aren’t prepared for anything like this… (1)

And when it happens we’ll need every single firefighter and appliance available in those areas. Fife has been severely effected by these cuts. What are the government doing about it? Absolutely nothing.
