More than 9 in 10 adult Nigerians (91%) acknowledged that tobacco smoking is very harmful and majority of the respondents were in support of laws aimed at reducing the consumption of tobacco in the country.

The poll also revealed that tobacco consumption is highly prevalent among the youth aged 18-25 years (56%). Interestingly, those aged between 18-35 years (58%) accounted for the largest proportion of Nigerians who made this assertion.

A poll which sought to highlight perception of Nigerians concerning the prevalence of tobacco consumption and its harmful effects revealed that there is high prevalence of tobacco consumption in Nigeria as stated by 94% of the respondents interviewed.
