Thank you to everyone for such thoughtful answers. Apologies I didn't respond at the time. I tweeted my Qs then panicked that the internet would hate me, so didn't log into Twitter for a month. (yes I know that's not normal & yes I do have a selection of mental illnesses)
@jaboukie something much more than this? I have tried to read up on this and watch videos but I've struggled to find anything that helped me understand. I know it's no-ones job to educate me, but if anyone would be willing to help I'd really appreciate it.
@jaboukie they/them it's seen as me saying I am stereotypically female (eg. a homemaker who wears dresses and looks after her man) and that's not me at all. So does that mean I'm actually non-binary? I assume not because then basically every woman I know would be non-binary, so it's -
@EyeEdinburgh@DrFlob@nmdacosta That's why proper regulation is needed. There's a world of difference between genuinely offering support to help people explore their feelings and trying to brainwash them.
@sally_hines @danaandra @ShortcakeFruit Yeah I get it in that situation. I don't think people say it in normal lifez although I have seen it on leaflets and social posts about periods. It feels quite dehumanizing. I'd rather it said something like "women and other people who have periods".
@DrFlob@nmdacosta I think the challenge it that it's not clear if the term means the horrifying practice of trying to change someone's identify through brainwashing and mistreatment, or includes giving people counselling and support to explore feelings on their gender.
@Came2Dance@DrMarinaHarris Yip. Exactly that. I felt extreme panic whenever I saw certain emails. She was a terrible therapist and luckily I wasn't so ill that I couldn't see that, but others may have been
@CathLoveday I stood watching him run and felt the most intense outrage. I wanted to scream "was that it?" "Is that how cowardly you are that a woman (a girl) fighting back has you running away?" I didn't, because the sensible part of my brain took control. Instead I ran home.
@CathLoveday dark lane (a theme because environments aren't created for women & girls). A man jumped out of the trees, put a hand over my mouth and other hand up my skirt. By some miracle I reacted I bit him, stamped on is foot, kicked upwards at his groin and elbowed his face. He ran away.
@DrMarinaHarris My poor experiences are minor compared to others on this thread of course. Why is health care so broken? The wrong people? Terrible training? It seems to be the same in the UK and US, Are other countries better?
@DrMarinaHarris My GP tried to cut my SSRI dose in half and insisted I wouldn't have side effects. A therapist told me he found it hard to understand why I was sad because I was pretty. Another got angry that I couldn't reply to peoples messages because of extreme anxiety & said I was rude
@Pontifex@PolishEmbassyUK surely this isn't what the laws are supposed to do? Religious or state? If a twin dies then leaving it inside the mother only condemns her and the other baby to death. This is horrifying.
Yet another woman killed by the Polish state. Agnieszka had been pregnant with twins and when one of them died in her womb doctors refused to remove it unless the other one also died, as the procedure would constitute an illegal abortion. She contracted sepsis and died on tuesday
