@pontoBMP i agree with you there! i went through something similar too. we push gender norms onto each other and ostracize anyone who doesn’t conform to them. but that is why it is so important to push back as someone who doesnt fit in them and be an example and encourage confidence still.
society puts such an immense amount of pressure on women and the trends they should follow and not. the beauty industry continously popularizes new insecurities, in order to sell products that are said to “fix” it. of course the immense sexualization of women is discomforting.
@nettledfiigs because factually i am attracted to other women? if my attraction was observed scientifically it would be shown. but your claim about being a man would not be able to get confirmed scientifically. the claim about having the brain of the other gender has been proven false.
every single trans man i have met identify as men because they felt that they did not fit the norms society expects women to follow. but it also seems to be rooted in internalized misogyny, and a desire to escape being seen as the “lesser” sex. it’s sad.
@nettledfiigs you guys go through hrt and surgery, yet your confidence is always based on other’s validation. plenty of you are in a constant state of hyperanalyzing other’s behaviours and your own. something as little as being excluded in certain circumstances causes so many of you to panic.
an intense feeling of wanting to be the other gender is not normal, sorry. dysphoria itself is caused by a cluster of other mental differences and disorders. you guys are stuck in an echo chamber where you validate yourself and each other, meanwhile recent studies show that…

@poonchuddite@xexqy@tehhnzin eh, healthcare has had a long history of being brutal towards individuals with mental disorders, so i wouldn’t expect conversion therapy to be beneficial. you cannot compare an inffective treatment to another ineffective treatment. hrt doesn’t have strong evidence.
@skrammzx what makes you a “trans” man, and not a “cis” man? why aren’t you a cis man? did you have the wrong body? it wouldn’t be the wrong if you were always a man and never a woman so uh
@loaded2thegills@tehhnzin@swissthug@xexqy imbalances in how the different regions of the brain communicate with each other is a big factor in why dysphoria exists. this is a common underlying cause for a cluster of other mental disorders too. hrt does not in any way help or improve that imbalance. 🤷♀️
@tehhnzin@swissthug@loaded2thegills@xexqy the flaws in brain communication will remain even after hrt, hrt does not solve the core issue in trans people! it only places a temporary bandaid over a deep wound (which isn’t efficent)
@tehhnzin@swissthug@loaded2thegills@xexqy the issue is that the disorder trans people experience isn’t a fault in their body. it is a fault in how their brain communicates with different areas of itself, leading to a flawed perception of oneself. THAT should be the aim for therapy. not the body.
@Wolfiix444@femmyneutron you are still associating norms and behaviour with gender though? you’d be a girl because you have the biologial system and chromosomes that are female. even animals know the difference between male and female without definitions. there is nothing more to it really.
@tehhnzin@loaded2thegills@xexqy do they tell you your visions are real then? the medication given is supposed to correct an imbalance that could be the cause for hallucinations in example. treatments are sadly flawed, but challenging the distortions is a big part. youre free to share where i am wrong!
@poonchuddite@xexqy@tehhnzin i agree my sexuality isn’t a majority. however, gender dysphoria is presented in similar parts of the brain as other mental disorders which are known to cause a mismatch between one’s perception and reality. it is a significant correlation. so i can compare it to schizophrenia.
@xexqy@tehhnzin i mean yea, like how someone without schizophrenia doesn’t understand how someone with schizophrenia feels, but we all agree on that keeping them in reality is healthier for them than to fuel into their disorder?
im not so good at elaborating. but normalization here also decreases the amount of times the issue gets brought up, minimizing any chance of deconstructing this patriarchal system in general. i think it is wrong to support sex work and see it as a “choice”. because it isn’t.
normalization of sex work is bad and is making it seem like one of the biggest issues in the majority of the world is a “choice”. someone in a privileged country will make money off of sex work, but are we forgetting that the majority of women live outside of western countries?
