Introduction: Hi Twitter, I'm Ms. W, a Nutrition & Family and Consumer Sciences Educator and former professional chef. I would like to welcome you to my teaching life, education advocacy and creating connections online. Stay hungry, ask for seconds and learn with me
It breaks my heart to say this, but I updated my resume for the first time in 18 years and I'm exploring my opportunities outside of teaching. I have thought about switching careers in the past, but never to this degree.
I am not leaving yet, but I wonder how many can relate?
@NicholasFerroni I updated mine as well, After a late night of venting to family about how the last 3 years have been... I did not think I would be doing that so soon into teaching (I'm in year 4)
Teachers should not have to crowdfund for school supplies.
Teachers should not have to buy their own school supplies.
And teachers sure as hell shouldn’t have to compete for money to use for school supplies, especially not in a crowded arena.
I'm sharing a petition that is passionate about the payment for student teachers in Illinois - I hope to build momentum in Massachusetts #paystudentteachers
Illinois State Board of Education: Payment for student teachers - Sign the Petition! https://t.co/8qKksttybM via @Change
Target is offering teachers 15% off for supplies for their classrooms. I’m curious. Do doctors pay for their own supplies? Dentists? Lawyers? The audacity of the ad is what bothered me. It is assumed we will purchase supplies because it’s what we’ve always done for our students.
I've got an education advocacy proposal that I would like to launch soon, I'm looking for a tribe to share their experiences, further the work, offer feedback and spread the message. More tomorrow - hint in the hashtag - What do you advocate for? #paystudentteachers
https://t.co/7szk58Zw2I Fellow teachers looking for some online webinars, PDs, and materials to help you tackle this unique time in education, follow this link. Great for core teachers/SPED/and specials #teachunited
@rosems92 A4: Benefits for teachers and students and parents could be UDL in all classroom settings, self paced work, visual, audio learning, it takes some social health pressure off of the students who don't want to be called on in class or get/have anxiety
@rosems92 A4: i feel like it embraces equity in ways we never considered before. I can have a one on one with one of my students any day of the week sans my usual monday after school - where they had soccer before and couldn't go
@benchase9@Kaity85053916@Britt_P@PeterBlock do you ever feel like it crosses a line in terms of when they can or will contact you? being always available isn't healthy for anyone either
