Shown at an exhibit tied to the 50th anniversary of ping-pong diplomacy: a humanoid robot tracks the ball, reads the spin, and returns shot after shot across the table - no controller, no remote operator.

Table tennis was supposed to be too fast for a machine. Too much reaction time, too much reading the spin, too much "you can't program reflexes." Watch it rally for thirty seconds and that line stops holding.

A player spends years building that reflex. This thing runs an algorithm.

Right now it's a showcase behind glass. In a few years the question is whether it's still just a demo, or the first version of the opponent across the net.
