We are concerned by the incident that took place outside Monday's Leadership Debate, and we stand in solidarity with the @SEIUHealthCan health care workers who were injured while trying to voice their opposition to the Ford government's policies.

"We must call on you to act: No one should freeze to death in @cityoftoronto"
@HPAP_Ontario has submitted a formal request to the Chief Coroner of #Ontario, Dr. Dirk Huyer, for an inquest into the circumstances leading to the recent cold weather deaths of three unhoused people.
6 deaths of unhoused ppl in 6 days in T.O. A front-line org lost 1 person each day it was open this wk. Another person froze to death last night in one of the wealthiest city's in the world because there's no shelter beds. #6Deaths6DaysTO 1/
Today our team released a report on experiences of overdose among people who use drugs. What were experiences of healthcare after an OD like? Unfortunately, "they treat you with such disdain" sums it up. With @KathleenKenny@AMBayoumi@tkhorasheh@ZoeDodd https://t.co/thqKDzUeWm
Addiction is a real thing but I don’t think it’s at all like what we have been told. Mostly because prohibition only validates negative consequences and erases the many ways drug use can benefit and sustain our lives 🧵
Please join us next week for @PublicHealthON Rounds where @GillianKolla, Jes Besharah and I will present findings of our upcoming report describing interactions with the healthcare system and OAT access prior to opioid poisoning deaths during the pandemic. https://t.co/ufTxG4BZd6
As temperatures plummet today city gov ramp up actions of abandonment & violence. These are from #UnionStation. Police ticketing a houseless person, security patrolling, fenced off seats sponsored by @TD_Canada This is awful. It will be -28 tomorrow night with windchill.
FRIENDS! hearing SO many anecdotes of not being able to find an indoor bed (recovery & non-) for ppl outside. we want to compile these anecdotes to highlight a pattern.
will you bookmark & fill out each time?https://t.co/Zn8Ldm69Rn
this will help push change! spread the word!
i’m angry bc the City told me on thurs that they didn’t see this coming: Omicron only came in Dec so they couldn’t anticipate this. meanwhile healthcare/frontline/houseless ppl knew (from the last 2+YRS) that this would happen come winter. @SHJNetwork even proposed a winter plan!
Just 565 people among 7000+ in @cityoftoronto's shelter system have their booster, and 37% have 0-1 vaccines doses. There are just 60 beds at the homeless #COVID recovery site, and 23 outbreaks in the shelter system. Last Jan. there were 450 beds across two sites. Utter disaster.
Seems like no one in govt is seeing the disaster that's happening in health-care 😢. The ER was SIX nurses short on Christmas day, even with triple time and half pay.
Tonight, there's only ONE Registered Nurse on the cardiology floor. ONE. ONE nurse people. Only one showed up.
