Today, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone “safari” Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson. A Russian drone deliberately hunted down a man selling vegetables and detonated right next to him. The Russians even admitted to the crime, showing zero regret and openly boasting about tormenting people. The man was wounded in the blast. Every single day, ordinary people in Kherson face these Russian "safaris."

The world must see this. It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees, it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil. We must remain resolute in defending life. We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to seriously think about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones.

This is not just about Ukraine. Russia’s campaign against human life must be stopped here in Ukraine before it spreads further. Finland and Kazakhstan, the Baltic states and Poland, the countries of the South Caucasus, Romania, and Moldova—all should work together to ensure real security guarantees and bring Russia’s war to an end. Peace is needed, which requires cooperation among everyone in the world who truly values peace. Thank you to everyone standing with Ukraine!

February 24 is a special date. Even if there were an intention or relevant steps toward bringing certain elections forward, I believe it would be an utterly stupid idea to use such a date to talk about politics. This is a very serious date – four years of war. It’s a large number of people who have defended our state and given their lives. And it is since February 24 that our people have been defending their country every day. I could never do such a thing.

Therefore, February 24 cannot be used to announce any elections – any elections at all. This is not about individuals. No elections can be announced on February 24.

As for announcing elections in general, I’ll repeat: first security, then politics. We can move toward elections when all the relevant security guarantees are in place. The issue of elections has been raised by various partners. Ukraine itself has never raised it. But of course, we are ready for elections. It’s very simple to do: establish a ceasefire – and there will be elections. Meaning, it is a matter of security.

In his speech at the New Statesman Politics Live political conference in London, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Ukraine’s current Ambassador to the UK, outlined what victory should look like for Ukraine and the nation's political objectives.

“When we speak about victory, it is honest to say that it is the destruction of the Russian empire, and defeat is the complete occupation of Ukraine with its collapse. All the rest is just a prolongation of the war.

The main political aim for Ukraine may be to stop Russian ability to attack Ukraine for a long and visible period of time. The tools and forms of such aggression change and will continue to change, but they will all serve the same political aim.”
