@LNER please can you confirm this from AI?
Right — I’ve pulled the latest signals together for London North Eastern Railway (LNER) and your exact stretch.
What’s actually happening
•There is an emergency incident involving a person being struck by a train on the line between Doncaster and Retford
•When this happens:
•All lines are typically blocked while emergency services work
•No trains can pass through that section at all
That’s why you’re not just “delayed” — you’re effectively parked behind a closed railway.
⸻
Why it’s taking so long (this is the key bit)
This type of incident triggers:
•British Transport Police + paramedics on track
•Full line closure for investigation
•Driver welfare procedures (the driver involved cannot continue)
•Control teams reorganising the entire East Coast Main Line
Even when it clears, there’s a massive backlog of trains to untangle.
⸻
What LNER usually does in this exact scenario
Based on how they run these:
•Your train may:
•sit and wait (most likely if you’re already close)
•be terminated early
•or be diverted via a slower route
•You might suddenly get moving after a long wait — but then crawl due to congestion
@LNER how can the train manager not know what is happening as the control team are not telling him… yet on X it shows that you cleared the person from the lines and they are back again. 18:00 from KGX to Leeds and held still outside Retford… be good to let your own team know and maybe the hundreds of people on the train? Any news??
It’s sending a strong message to a guest serving someone a drink in a disgraceful n0nce mug…
Wonder if there is a business here buying up as many as possible to sell as the ultimate hot drink slap down…
@TheSun can we see this article with the headline “Fraud Sugar” please?
Can’t believe the BBC left @Lord_Sugar so exposed by lazy research!

@simonrod01@LNER Just seems odd that Dan @LNER is online and yet is not even sharing the news you can get on the website. they have ignored my question totally.... wonder why though!
@LNER@ASegal18 What does that mean to folks on the train Dan? We are at Peterborough. Is this an hour fix, five hour fix, coach to Leeds? If the latter will you do coaches to each place rather than one?
@googlemaps I can't DM you so will just outline the position... Google Maps shows incorrect postcode for residential address. Causing chaos for 18 months. Raised an edit. Edit shows both, although postcode still not working. Requires fixing your end. What's process please? Multiple impacted
