@NatWest_Int NatWestGroup my father, 93 years old a loyal customer of over 72 years being blocked by NatWest for a straightforward payment . Spent over 1.5hrs on call and NatWest will only accept fax machines as a form of delivery. Utter disgrace

@conmachiavel @annettedittert@guardian Although the broader context is that the UK has always had good relations with Europe it is just convenient for the press, across the full spectrum, to polarize to sell papers - was ever thus.

Another manifestation of lucky Starmer and unlucky Sunak. The European Community Summit at Bleinheim is the slickest and best organised international summit hosted by the UK I have attended in years. Even the (free) ice cream is yummy (sorry to trivialise). And it is happening at Sunak’s instigation and was organised on his watch. EU delegations say they would like the UK to host it permanently (no chance, by the way). And Starmer gets the credit for his predecessor’s work. No one said politics was fair
@TfL big THANKS to Jude driver bus 378 London Putney Bridge direction - bus stop was closed but he noticed me running like a maniac and stopped to let me get on. TOP DRIVER!!
This gorgeous study in lilac was photographed in colour 115 years ago, in the summer of 1909. I think the beautiful light & colour make this one of the loveliest autchromes I have cleaned-up.
The Lumière brothers, Auguste & Louis, had patented their autochrome colour process six years previously. It was Auguste who took this stunning photo of their daughters Andrée (1894-1918) (daughter of Auguste) & Suzanne (1894-1973) (daughter of Louis).
Young Andrée Lumière (on the right) died at the tragically young age of 24 in 1918, from the Spanish Influenza virus, which had killed up to 50 million people across the world.
This enhanced photo is original colour (not colourised).
@HarrietHarman O I am appalled for you that not one of the Labour front bench was their to hear your final speech. It speaks volumes that more Conservatives were present than @UKLabour@Keir_Starmer@RachelReevesMP - 42 years and only 4 Labour MP’s bothered to hear the “mother of the house”.
This photo is 113 years old.
It was taken by Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky, an early pioneer of colour photography.
If you've ever wondered what the world used to look like, Prokudin-Gorsky's photos will show you...
@anluandunne@AvantiWestCoast I would advise buying a metro ticket for Paris onboard the Eurostar if you can as there can be long queues at the ticket machines if you are unlucky.
@andycorneys@campbellclaret Exactly so, Labour are as guilty as the Conservatives of disenfranchising the UK electorate by not implementing PR. Whoever wins the next GE, more will have voted for the losing parties with less representation- that is the true scandal.
@mazzerooni @Catofbengals Switzerland also has thriving high streets, markets and independent shops. Shopping culture really has less to do with whether a country is in the Eu or not.
