🚨NEW: A Hawaiian man knocked out a Democratic congressional candidate with one punch after he allegedly threatened to shoot a woman at a Maui beach.

Police say Kirill Basin, 40, became enraged after a 61-year-old man asked him to lower his music.

Basin allegedly threatened to shoot the man’s wife and several bystanders.

A local man seen approaching in the background confronted Basin, knocked him out, then calmly told him to stop threatening people.

Police say Basin later pulled a knife and continued threatening people.

When officers arrived, he allegedly threw the knife into the ocean.

The same bystander swam out, recovered the knife, and handed it to police.

Basin was charged with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. Bail was set at $1 million.

Police say he has also been arrested in other assault and property-damage cases since May, and several people have obtained temporary restraining orders against him.

Meet Arnav Mahant, a former mathematics teacher in Whitefish Bay, WI. For those of you who are not from this state, Whitefish Bay is a very wealthy suburb of Milwaukee County, where home prices start at $ 1 million. The school district is a major contributor to these prices.

In 2006, Mr. Mahant stole over half a million dollars from the teachers' union by using his capacity as its treasurer. He also stole money from an ethnic association and his own in-laws. He defrauded individuals and organizations for over 1 million dollars.

If an elderly senator were ever mentally incapacitated or otherwise unable to make an independent voting decision, my concern is that a staffer could potentially influence or instruct that senator on how to vote.
