Sadly, prejudice and hostility against people based on their identity still exists and continues to hurt people and communities around the world. By showing solidarity with one another and striving for a better future we can resist the darkness by being the light in the darkness.
Every year on the 27th January we remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions of other people killed under Nazi Persecution. We remember the genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. In a world scarred by genocide, we remember!
St. Nicholas Day is mostly celebrated in Northern/ Eastern Europe and carries a connection to Christmas. On the eve, children put a shoe outside their bedroom doors or stocking in front of the fireplace and hope that they will find candy, coins, and a gift in them when they wake!
Interfaith Week 2020 gives us the opportunity to shine a light and increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities. Promote understanding between people of religious and non-religious beliefs and celebrate the contribution of our faith communities.
The 2020 Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day will be commemorated across the Bradford district, but due to Covid 19 this will be done in a different way. At 10.30 am on the 8th November Bradford Cathedral will stream a service.
