@FoolAllTheTime Admittedly, the technicality of it is over my head and the lack of signed agreements (thus far) means you have to take them for their word. But if correct, it’s incredibly intriguing and worth a look. If you dive deeper, let me know.
@FoolAllTheTime Substitute a proprietary material for silicon in photonic integrated circuits to increase speed and lower power usage. Expecting to be added to foundry PDK’s and be utilized for customization as data center needs continue to increase. Curious to get your take.
@todd_harrison How are you thinking about the over supply of cannabis in California? Im struggling to understand how prices can normalize anytime soon and not impact other legal states. Trying to stay bullish but any insight would be helpful.
@djrosent@gilbert I listened to your Berkshire II episode and your comment about risk vs volatility piqued my interest. Can you point me to any further reading you used to better understand this point? It's become increasingly relevant to a popular hedge fund business model.
@jbathgate@gilbert@djrosent@honam@bjohns3@AcquiredFM And could be one of the reasons why 'unwinds' in the public markets seem to be increasing in frequency and pose increased risk in the event of a market turn.
@gilbert@djrosent@honam@jbathgate@bjohns3 Thanks for the help - I appreciate it. To me, it sounded like the market neutral hedge fund pods...neutralize beta, then lever returns amidst tight risk parameters. Which has attracted substantial AUM, fees and talent over the past couple years.
@jcobbz7 What's the bull case on either stock besides valuation? Struggling to wrap my head around $REAL. They have no pricing power given reliance on secondary market prices (watches, lux) and they're not a duopoly like Sotheby's. Seems like there are easier bets to make on lux consumers
@Shiningboy "Morris Chang founded TSMC at age 56, retired at 74, then came back at age 78 into the deal to make all of Apple’s chips."

@paulcerro Nice article. I think a key point that not everyone realizes is how significant the threat of interstate commerce is within Schumer's bill. It effectively puts the bear case on the table and needs to be disproved as it substantially impacts terminal growth rates for hydroponics.
@MylesDanielsen As an allocator, what would entice you to invest in a long-only over a L/S if the team was exactly the same? Isn't the point that the business model of L/S offers better risk/reward and more consistency than a long-only. As a result, the competition has increased.
@JonFell73 I agree but another way of asking the question would be: Aside from the financial implications of shifting the ESG tide - what are the financial benefits of these deals? Does PM think they could make this big enough to flip the terminal growth of a tobacco biz from neg to pos?
