Bus driver Dan has officially retired from TriMet. The time has come, and I’m facing some medical issues that may prevent me from continuing to drive. Nothing critical—but the news is that I’m no longer a bus driver.

I want to say that working at TriMet, alongside my coworkers, managers, and union, has been an honor. I leave as happy as I was on my first day, 19.1 years ago.

On to the next challenge.

One thing that gets lost in train vs car debates is that when you drive, driving is the sole task you should legally be focusing on. On a train like Te Huia you can work, eat, drink, talk or just admire Aotearoa #NZ’s amazing scenery, such as the Whangamarino Swamp in the video.
