1st day of the summer holidays and this big new expensive sports facility is…eh, locked. Shocking that a huge chunk of the park was taken to build this facility which is left locked with no access for kids. The loss and inaccessibility of the “third space” is shocking. What are kids supposed to do for fun when they can’t access these types of spaces. So much for a legacy of sport a decade on from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
I spoke to two wee girls who were inside and asked if there was an open gate. They giggled and told me how they got in (which I won’t type out so the council aren’t temped to ruin their fun and access). I spotted around 8 other kids wandering around looking to get in with no luck.
Such a shame to see kids without access to these expensive facilities which I bet were built with the intention of encouraging young people into sport.
@MarkRatter @BarrheadHighSch Outstanding report. An absolute delight to read. Please pass on my congratulations to Fiona, the staff, pupils and the whole community.
@ScotGovEdu @JennyGilruth Nice sound bite. Can we now have some practical strategies. Perhaps implementing the Muir and Hayward reports would be a good start.
@JohnSwinney You all seem to be out and about and letting people know. Sounds a bit like closing the gate after the horse has bolted. Seems it's all downhill now for the SNP.
@RichardLochhead There's no way there is going to be a vote on that. Everyone is entitled to their personal views. Kate is the best candidate. Her personal views will not stand in the way of her doing the best for the people of Scotland, improve Scotland's economy and eradicate child poverty.
