A bridge too VAR for the Premier League, plus Tel's heaven and hell keeps Spurs on edge … Guardian sport back page, Tuesday 12 May 2026 #tomorrowspaperstoday
Imagine breaking the two-hour mark at the London Marathon - or indeed any marathon - and not winning the race. That’s the world we’re suddenly in. Incredible from Sabastian Sawe (who looked fresh as a daisy at the finish) and Yomif Kejelcha (who looked like he’d been run over)
@mikeycarter@EE Yep, we access TNT Sports via EE and HBO Max via NOW TV. NOW has let me activate and link to a fresh HBO login, EE not so much. There are loads of dead links on the EE site in relation to all this
@TLRailUK Can you advise on the best addresses for a letter/email of complaint? The website and attachment procedure doc on this subject are non-specific. Complaint will take in issues at all of STP, KGX, PBR and HIT last night
@TLRailUK Dozens of Bedford people at STP have been sent to Euston to get trains to MK … at Euston they’re then being told not to do that, as buses won’t restart until 6.55am. Can you please arm STP staff with a plan of how to get people to BDM?
@TLRailUK On arrival at HIT we were told they had nothing coming to take us to Bedford. Was there for around 2hrs before cab arrived. I started at STP at 2110, I finally got back to BDM at 0345 … and that’s not even where I live. I only travelled to/from there because of SDY line closure
@TLRailUK This is all a bit nuts. Dozens of us are boarding a bus at Potters Bar, apparently to Hitchin, with no clear idea what the onward plan is from there. Does anybody at Hitchin know?
@GNRailUK The only bus in the planners from HIT a) is at 1.33am and b) is expected to get into Sandy at 2.21. Please tell me that’s not the only way to SDY - that will be over 4.5hrs after I got to King’s Cross
@GNRailUK Where are the customer service staff at King’s Cross? Someone’s saying that St Pancras staff are telling people to go to Bedford rather than trying to get to Hitchin. This disruption started 10 hours ago and everyone’s hiding!
@GNRailUK There are no trains listed from Hitchin to Sandy now - there’s seemingly nobody dealing with customer service enquiries at King’s Cross, and the last train to Hitchin was full anyway. How can I get back to Sandy tonight please?
Amazon Web Services/AWS ads during the football feels like somewhat unfortunate timing. Not sure they’ll be getting too much new business from those tonight
@GNRailUK It means an 110min gap in service with each cancellation and that I arrive home 3hrs after I leave work. It’s a direct train and I only live 49 miles away. What timescale can I inform my employer that this will be addressed?
@GNRailUK Can we get an explanation why you have stopped running a 0046 STP > SDY service? Real Time Trains is citing “planning error” for 6 cancellations since last week. If it’s going permanently, please say so, because its absence fundamentally affects my ability to do my job
Unbearably sad to hear news that @poporacle - Jon Kutner - has left us. A lovely, lovely man, with passion for UK chart music and chart data that could shame most claiming to be experts in the field. We already missed his Bedford quizzes, and will very much miss the man himself
@GNRailUK Can we get a public explanation of how the northbound 0046 from STP seemingly vanished into thin air about 5 mins before it was due in? Was listed online but not on platform boards. It’s the third major lengthening of a late-night journey I’ve had in the past 11 days
