MPs' expenses pay for stuff for like their constituency office, staffing costs and getting to and from Westminster to do their job. Over 5 years, that's a lot of money. It does not go into their pockets.

It wont happen, and doesn't need to happen, but there is a procedure(*) to extend a Prorogation.
Both Houses just assemble and the Lords Commissioners tell them to go away again.
(* before the very first State Opening of a Parliament, Parliament can also be prorogued by writ without needing to assemble at all)
Appointing a Canon of Westminster or Windsor involves a Writ of Mandamus in addition to the Letters Patent. This use of the Writ may be unique to the Royal Peculiars. The Writ's eschatocol is unusual for an instrument which passes under the Great Seal. 1/2
Parliament is now paused during prorogation - the formal end of a parliamentary session.
It will not sit again until the State Opening on 13 May for the start of a new session.
