@Parkerclass107 I agree, by educating and enlightening more people you could learn more. The exchanging of ideas and experiences allows all of us to broaden our views/perspective. #i2e21
@LowShamya@Ragnaros2587 I would have to disagree. If the people in the cave were willing to venture out into the world and then make a decision to live in the cave that would be just sticking to their old ways. The fact that they refused to even listen to the other prisoner is close mindedness. #i2e21
@impickledrew@Colton97412886 It’s scary to think that we might currently be living in a state of ignorance. What if someone comes along to enlighten us and we react negatively? I would hope as a society we’ve evolved enough to be open minded. #i2e21
@school__mouse I had no idea there was so much meaning to my actions until after this course. Aristotle especially has inspired me to cultivate my soul and strive to be a better person. #i2e21
I found the Aristotle reading to be very challenging but love his view on excellence of character. I agree that we have 3 different aspects of our souls. #i2e21
@nahomema Ethics of care would be used as some way to control women or pressure them into acting a certain way. What you mentioned is definitely one positive aspect of being categorized as feminine but the cons outweigh the pros. I prioritize my relationships as well!! #i2e21
It is really cool how old theories on morality still apply to modern society. Death being the second most feared thing in America just shows how much our priorities and way of life has changed since Aristotle’s time. #I2E21
I agree that categorizing ethics of care as feminine or female would play into the double standard that women face on a daily basis. It would be extremely harmful if men and women were held to different standards morally. #I2E21
I love the individuality aspect of excellence of character. It is extremely challenging to fairly equate experiences, you can never truly know how something will impact someone else. #I2E21
@miiiamor7 I think happiness has some moral value but shouldn’t be the highest priority. We all have to do things that we don’t like in order to be successful and thrive. Happiness is sort of a bonus. #i2e21
@KayliReynolds24 I think that would be terrible. As humans we strive for deeper connections and want genuine experiences. If everything was chosen for us and we had no say in the matter it would take away from our deeper connections and needed failures. #i2e21
I was always confused on how free will applied in religion, specifically Catholicism. I was taught that we all had free will but we must obey certain rules, it now makes sense if we look at these rules as means to an end. #I2E21
@Nleone2488 @jakedag13 I’d have to disagree, if the event wasn’t mandatory and solely based on volunteers there isn’t really an ethical issue. Of course there would have to be strict rules but if someone voluntarily gives up their individual rights it wouldn’t be immoral. #i2e21
