30 years ago this rogue doctor questioned everything we know about back pain.
In 2025, his once-mocked method heals thousands: without pills, injections, or surgery.
Here's how I stopped my chronic pain: 🧵
The 1.6 g/kg threshold is meaningless, the breakpoint regression in this study is non-significant. Also, the solid arrow in the plot represents the 95% CI for the threshold, which has a range from 1.1 - 2.2 g/kg.
Low-protein diets are particularly harmful to elderly people, and among people over 65, a protein intake of over 19% of total calories is associated with the lowest mortality risk (PMID: 37558986)
We know that maximum muscle hypertrophy can be achieved with a protein intake of 1.6 g/kg/day, which for most people will be around 20% of total calories (PMID: 28698222)
That interestingly fits the 14-23% range in one of the largest analyses on the topic

@KevinDickersonX@kimianora You‘re asking the right question! Max Planck implied these paradigm shifts can take a long time: „A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents … but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it“

My experience with chronic pain is personal:
💥 After a car accident shattered my spine, I had years of pain, often so bad I couldn’t walk.
I found brain retraining by accident - and recovered fully.
You’re stuck with pain that won’t go away?
⚠️ These studies included patients with severe structural damage:
• Musculoskeletal conditions
• Disk herniations
• Scoliosis
BUT: Many of these patients were still able to recover by retraining! 🤯
@KeithSakata I’ve come to think that we will have AIs that partially replace friendship and companionship for at least 90% of people. I used to see that as dystopian, but now I’m not so sure.
