Spent this morning @saatchi_gallery at the London Grads show - amazingly diverse works from MA students from London art schools. Hard to pick favourites, but @studiosteffi and @katyagranova were standouts for me - bit of a traditionalist, I love the paintings.
Reindeer on the move – a magical scene from the ice age. Illuminated by oil fat lamps, the panel of swimming reindeer at Lascaux was drawn in black manganese crayon some 17,000 winters past 🦌🦌
Happy Christmas everyone! 🎄
At the bottom of the Kermadec Trench, the sub's cameras caught one of the deepest jellyfish ever seen on film. Observation depth of ~10,003 meters. Appears to be a "comb" jelly and somehow surviving over 7 tons psi of pressure. (I know, sadly, the camera feed 'stutters' once.)
Last day to see MA Art & Science degree show at Safehouse 1 and 2, Copeland Road, London. Stop by to see a fantastic selection of work from the graduating class of 2021 all inspired by science. Link to book in bio. #artandscience#degreeshow#artshow#maverickprojects#csm#ual

@GroundworkKL Fantastic event. Thank you for such a fascinating afternoon yesterday combing my favourite things- science, water, Japan and of course art. The speakers were great. Could have listened to even more.
300 scientists from across the world are calling for a pause to the #DeepSeaMining industry, warning that it would result in a loss of biodiversity & ecosystem functioning which would be "irreversible on multi-generational timescales." https://t.co/mBe2qUg0kb 📸@oceanexplorer
The truth is down there. There's a literal twilight zone in the ocean, from 660 to 3,300 feet (200 to 1,000 meters) below the surface.
The OTZ has been difficult for scientists to study until recently, given how deep, dark, and vast it is, but we do know that it contains more
As it's #worldoceansday I thought I'd share one of my paintings inspired by the darkness of the #deepsea and the #MarianaTrench. A fascinating & strange world - inhospitable to humans but home to creatures that have adapted brilliantly to the darkness and intense pressures
