Trump lied about the cost of the ballroom, but there’s another angle to this.
How does a ballroom go from costing $400 million to $1 billion?
Because it’s not just a ballroom.
They’re building a bunker underneath to ensure that in a nuclear war the politicians who caused it will survive while we all die.
That’s why this is so urgent. The only way to survive a nuclear war is to prevent one by stopping these politicians from having a secure bunker where they will be safe.
Imagine how much more dangerous their rhetoric, policies, and wars will become when they know they won’t suffer the consequences from them. The safer the elites are, the less safe the people are.
I wrote about Trump's stupid ballroom for @RawStory & once again ask the questions NO ONE HAS ASKED:
Where are the historical artifacts from the East Wing? Did anyone carefully store & catalog them, or are they sitting in a debris pile on a golf course?

"We can fight to stop the ballroom. If this means leaving the area as a destruction site for the rest of Trump’s presidency, so be it. Let its ugliness exemplify the Trump era. Let its rubble symbolize what he's tried to do to the American republic." https://t.co/yVcOuyDSrT
Ansari: I filed articles of impeachment against Hegseth today. He did not follow his oath to the Constitution. He committed a war crime in Iran with the attack on a school that killed over 160 children. We need to prosecute anyone who committed war crimes. I have no doubt that if this absolute clown—former Fox News, not even a real anchor—continues in his position, there will be more.
@dieworkwear Reminds me of a mini version of 'Brunelleschi's Dome: How a Renaissance Genius Reinvented Architecture' by Ross King. Appreciate the historical context even though you'll never find me in a pair of chinos!
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani just made history.
New York’s first-ever pied-à-terre tax — an annual fee on luxury properties worth $5M+ owned by people who don’t even live here.
Ken Griffin bought a $238M penthouse in NYC.
He doesn’t live here. It sits empty.
While working New Yorkers can’t afford rent.
That changes today. $500M annually — straight to childcare, clean streets, and safer neighborhoods.
This is what governing for people looks like.
A current show at the Philadelphia Museum of Art puts the spotlight on a rarely-appreciated component of art: the picture frames that border it.
@Faith_Salie explores the history of framing art, and talks with curator Tara Contractor and frame conservator Chris Ferguson about a craft bordering on exquisite. https://t.co/CRMCG6Qqtj
FYI The Reagan Library placed no “use restrictions” or “access restrictions” on its video of Ronald Reagan’s radio address condemning tariffs. Perhaps the new MAGA board that controls the foundation now wants to read its own terms of use.
"Monuments," an art museum meditation on the horrors of 20th century Confederate memorials designed to advocate for Jim Crow oppression, is a thrilling exhibition. Opens next week in LA, running for 6 months.
