Apartheid was not defeated by people acting out scenes from Sarafina! It was defeated through a combination of internal resistance, armed struggle, African frontline states such as Zambia and Angola giving support, and serious pressure from Western capitals where the real economic and diplomatic power sat.

Once sanctions, boycotts, isolation and international pressure started biting on a serious scale, the apartheid regime came to the table. That is the part your cartoon version of history keeps missing.
