Supporting teachers in higher education, finding opportunities for digital transformations in higher education, and still geeking out about pop culture. he/him
I have not been very active on Twitter for a while now, but recent events have convinced me to delete the app and stay off Twitter indefinitely. Mastodon is the only real alternative for me: @[email protected]
@Long_Coal@monark@elonmusk Ah is this why my recommendations are full of stuff I don’t want to see? Why people keep talking about algorithms pushing posts that create the most drama? You clearly cannot optimize positivity, because how do you define that to begin with?
@Long_Coal@monark@elonmusk Is that why it works so well and without human intervention on all social media sites? Sorry but clearly it is hard and expensive. If it works well 99% of the time (which I doubt), you still get probably tens of thousands of tweets per week that are not recognized correctly.
Think of people around the world tonight who need Twitter to get their voices heard, to document human rights abuses and injustices, to get attention, expose war crimes, and more.
All of them could be about to be cut off because the world’s richest man wanted to own the libs.
@medieninitiativ Rez HD, Geometry Wars, Poker Smash, I still love a lot of the Live Arcade titles. Some just never came out anywhere else. Viva Piñata and Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts are any favorite unique 360 games. And the skate series, still play this to just kick back.
@jratcliff I think you misunderstood his point. As long as your first paragraph is true, the facts of the last paragraph are dangerous and irresponsible. All of the technological achievements have not made your first statement any less true. In that regard, they are irrelevant.
Inflation is here, and there are a *lot* of explanations for it. People who worry about the monetary supply blame it on excessive money creation during the pandemic and uppity workers demanding higher wages:

More evidence in today's 🇨🇦GDP data that current inflation is being driven by profits not wages. Net corporate surplus rose again as a share of GDP during the 1st quarter of 2022 as inflation surged, now 2.1 points above pre-pandemic. Labour compensation still down 0.8 points. /2
Everybody is on the "This is Fox News's fault" and, it is. But I want to focus on another community I follow closely: Gamers.
I tend to follow streamers/YouTubers who explicitly *don't* go in for these white supremacist dog whistles (obviously) but a lot of them don't call it out
@DanHF It‘s so wild how closely this mirrors what happened with comics. With the same stories even. I await the movie equivalent of the 1/25 variant cover. For every 25th showing the theater gets to do one show of a special cut with a deleted scene and charge extra for that. Foil 1/150
Tucker Carlson, the host of the most-watched show on prime-time cable news, uses a simple narrative to instill fear in his viewers. To understand how he promotes extremist ideas and conspiracy theories, we analyzed 1,150 episodes. Here’s what we found. https://t.co/erE9z7xSge
Warum also arbeiten so viel mehr Frauen in Teilzeit? Natürlich ist es kein Naturgesetz, es ist deutsche Kultur und Sozialisation. Das sollte sich ändern.
