The challenge with MDROs in LMICs is different from HICs but is rarely acknowledged. Different strategies are needed. Now. https://t.co/JsOdrIUthp via @IDSAInfo

"What is going on right now is inevitable, it's a result of the world's failure to vaccinate in an equitable urgent and speedy manner. It is a result of hoarding [of vaccines] by high-income countries of the world, and quite frankly it is unacceptable." -Ayoade Alakija
Spoke to @BBCWorld earlier today about #VirusVariantsVaccine#VaccineApartheid Inequity & Injustice. Thanks to Philippa Thomas for inviting me on. This is NOT the answer, we need Global Solidarity and we need it NOW!
My feed seems to be (understandably) tired of the masks results. But I've rarely been more proud of a piece - esp grateful to actual study authors @styczynski_a & @mushfiq_econ for adding my name on this one. The piece not only lays out results but why they matter for the world.
We wouldn’t gather 20-30 unvaccinated, unmasked adults all day in a small room. Why would we think it’s safe to do for our kids? Indoor masking is one of the few proven tools we have to reduce #covid19 transmission. Let’s not take away this option when the virus is surging.
With dozens of researchers at Yale, Stanford, Berkeley and IPA and several other organizations, we ran a cluster randomized trial involving almost 350,000 people and 600 villages in Bangladesh to assess the impact of community masking on COVID.
