Yesterday, Pjanić gave an interview saying that when he was at Juventus, he was the designated free kick taker, but as soon as Cristiano arrived, he stopped letting Pjanić take any of them and started taking every free kick himself… and missing them all.

Anyway, Pjanić said they were playing Napoli and won a free kick from an excellent position. Napoli goalkeeper Meret had been sent off, and the game was still level, but Cristiano insisted on taking it anyway.

Pjanić said that at the time, Allegri wanted him to take the free kick instead of Cristiano because Cristiano had missed basically every free kick since joining Juventus. So Allegri quickly decided to send a physiotherapist to Cristiano and have him taken off the pitch to continue his treatment by any means necessary, just so he couldn’t take the free kick.

Pjanić said that was the only way to convince Cristiano to let someone else take a free kick. And it worked perfectly.

The game ended 1–0 to Juventus, with Pjanić scoring from that exact free kick.
