@NiharikaDash14 Please read the book to understand the logic behind its inclusion. Btw, the entire book is Odia translation of NCERT book of same class. And when people attribute Nimbuda as a Bollywood song, it reflects their lack of knowledge of folk history. Check the NCERT book page below.

Here is an inspiring story from rural Odisha about a sister who sacrificed her own dreams so her elder brother could become a doctor.
And the story has a beautiful ending.
When Monalisa Pradhan completed Plus II, her elder brother Bibhishan was preparing for MBBS. Due to financial hardship, she could not pursue her own dreams and instead took up a part-time job at a saree shop in Berhampur.
“I had to pay my house rent and give some money to my brother for his studies.”
Her earnings helped support Bibhishan, who is now a 4th-year MBBS student at govt medical college SLNMCH, Koraput.
But the story doesn’t end there.
Last year, Monalisa herself cracked NEET and enrolled in the same medical college, proving that resilience, sacrifice, and purpose can overcome even the toughest circumstances.
Stories like these deserve to be celebrated more. ❤️

Twins in elephants are among the rarest sights in the wild. With twin births estimated at less than 1% of all elephant pregnancies.
For a species that carries its young for nearly 22 months, raising even one calf is a massive investment.
I documented one such instance from wild few years back.
A film should truly be made on the life of Dr. Ganesh Bariya , GANESH BHAI MBBS.
Born with dwarfism, his journey was never easy. When he was just a child in primary school, circus agents once offered his father ₹5 lakh to take him away. But his father refused. Instead of selling him to the world, he chose to educate him and stand by his dreams.
Ganesh was brilliant in studies. He earned admission into medical college—but was rejected by the Medical Council simply because of his height.
But destiny had other plans.
In 2018, the Supreme Court ruled that denying him admission based on his physical stature was discrimination. That decision changed everything.
He went on to complete his MBBS from Bhavnagar Medical College in Gujarat, and today, Dr. Ganesh proudly serves as a consultant doctor in the same hospital.
From rejection to respect, from discrimination to dignity his story is not just inspiring, it’s a reminder that no dream is too big, and no person is too small to achieve it.
Some stories deserve not just applause… but a
A 19-year-old boy from Odisha gets a second chance at life.
From Dhenkanal in #Odisha, he has been living with end stage kidney disease for several years. As his condition worsened, doctors advised a transplant as the only option for long term survival, and his mother stepped forward without a second thought to donate her kidney.
The family did everything they could to arrange the cost of the surgery, but they still needed support to cover the remaining amount.
We are deeply grateful to our #PromiseBank depositors who came forward without hesitation and helped cover that crucial part of the payment for his treatment.
Anonymous supporters from Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, London, Delhi and Cuttack, along with @harishskothari, @sidhmish and Nidhi Arora, your kindness made this possible.
We also thank Anil Sahoo for helping the family reach out at the right time.
With this timely support, he successfully underwent his kidney transplant at @KIMSBBSR. Both he and his mother have now been discharged and are beginning their recovery after a long and challenging journey.
Wishing them strength and good health in the days ahead.

I am deeply saddened by the latest reports of civilian casualties as a result of Pakistani airstrikes in Kabul. Targeting civilian homes, educational facilities or medical infrastructure, either intentional or by mistake, is a war crime. The sheer disregard for human lives, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, is sickening and deeply concerning. It will only fuel division and hatred. I call upon the UN and other human rights agencies to thoroughly investigate this latest atrocity and hold the perpetrators to account. I stand with my Afghan people in this difficult time. We shall heal, and we will rise as a nation. We always do. Inshallah ! 🇦🇫
Let’s spread the unrevealed truth and beauty of tourism in Odisha.

Odisha is no stranger to India’s tourism circuit.
From the timeless Konark & Jagannath Temples, to the sands of Puri Beach and the vastness of Chilika Lake.
But it seems that if you venture deeper into the state you discover landscapes that are every bit as spectacular.
Duduma Falls in Koraput district where the Machkund River plunges dramatically off a rocky cliff is one such marvel.
It’s a reminder that India’s beauty is inexhaustible. Just when you think you’ve seen it all… another wonder appears.
