as a wedding photographer this is a true nightmare. if you've got lengthy vows do it privately just the two of you and give your guests the relief of not having to just sit there listening to you talk at one another for almost an hour. there's literally no need for this.
i understand cultural differences or familial obligations, and have photographed very large weddings, but i don’t think it’s the flex people think it is.
weddings should be about connection, not just between the couple, but with their family and friends. even when weddings get to the 150-200 level, you are not having really any kind of meaningful interaction with your guests. having 1000 people at a wedding makes zero sense to me.
this is what happens when people believe art is about the consumer and not about the artist. make what you want to make, it will reach the right people.
Looks neat, but it'd be cool to see Eggers expand into other types of movies after this. This style of period horror is starting to feel a little played out. I want to see what Eggers' imagination looks like in, say, a science fiction epic or a crime thriller.
my friend’s mom was a boudoir photographer when i was a kid and i thought it was so cool i asked her to take my picture in her studio and this was the result
