In the midst of the biggest energy security crisis that the world has ever seen Saudi Arabia’s energy minister Prince Abdulaziz has been silent, and what he says is a sign of being humble to admit that he doesn’t know what will happen next. “Being silent is a form of talking”
After Henry Nowak Tragedy, Peter Hitchens Makes Controversial Call to Abolish Britain’s Entire Police Force and Start Again
“I have to say it’s been a long time since I’ve thought or imagined for a moment that I would ever say, “Oh, great. The police have arrived.” It’s astounding to me how long it has taken our society to notice the disaster which has happened to the police.”
Hitchens, a long-time critic of Britain’s broken policing system, doesn’t mince words on the solution:
“My position has been now for some time… The only thing we can do now is to create a new police force on sound principles and train it and as soon as it’s ready abolish and dismiss all the existing police forces which are totally useless and could not by any effort or any will of man be turned into anything that was useful. They all need to go off and do something else.”
This isn’t the left-wing ‘defund the police’ idea. It’s a conservative call to scrap the broken system and start again from scratch, end two-tier policing and go back to the original basics of good policing: preventing crime before it happens, having officers who are part of the local community, and policing that ordinary people actually support.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich:
I say to the people of Israel: come live in the West Bank. There are many reasons to live in the West Bank.
I hope that this incentive will help us bring one million settlers and kill the idea of a Palestinian state.
The debate is not whether governments should intervene—most already do. Instead, the real question is: what can governments do when they do not know in advance what will work?
One answer from the World Bank and others is to adapt and experiment. But who could disagree with that? Left unsaid is how exactly governments should enable adaptation.

Elon: "The robots are not the scary part. The scary part is AGI, digital super intelligence that far exceeds human intelligence. If there's a digital super intelligence that is just vastly smarter than the smartest human, we could lose control of it."
At @AmerCompass's New World Gala on Tuesday, I asked @SecScottBessent what we can do about young people no longer believing the system works for them.
He said we need to move away from "the gambling society" and the desire "to economically play the lottery."
“If you do not personally come to the conclusion that it is time to end this war, Ukraine will continue fighting for its existence.
But you, too, will have to fight much harder for your own existence — not Russia’s, but your own. And this is not a threat from me or from Ukraine. It is a fact of Russian history that you know well: when Russia grows tired, change comes.”
Well, considering that he writes about Russian losses, bans, and the like
Zeleboba throws in some incredible numbers, and that, Russian losses of 6 people to 1 Ukrainian
So obviously this is aimed at the Russian domestic audience.
In a nutshell - “surrender while I'm still being nice.”

Publicity stunt and yetanother dig at Putin—no other goals.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Putin said what he would say to Zelensky if he met with him to establish peace:
President Putin:
“Thank God, that all this is over.@
“Russia would like to sign documents with Kiev with a legitimate representative, "it's not a whim.”
“Whether Zelensky is a legitimate representative of Ukraine is a question for legal analysis.”
“Any country in our position should sign documents of such a historical nature with persons who are legitimate.”
“Finding those who should sign documents from Ukraine with Russia is possible, “there would be a desire.”
“There are many options there - Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, maybe Zelensky himself. There would be a desire, and how to formalize this, we will find a way.”
He reminds that Zelensky's powers as president "expired" in May 2024.
“Will there will be elections or not?
No one is speaking about this.”
🚨 LMFAO! President Trump to reporter with a thick Indian accent: "Are you from India? I thought you were from GERMANY!"
"I'm only kidding. You're central casting, OK? That's a very good thing."

Brazil’s long container trains in action 🚆
A loaded container train arriving in Jales, São Paulo — reportedly a Rumo operation.
Around 130 containers in one train, with just one locomotive visible. Rail freight doing what it does best: volume over distance.

Turns out we may already have an anti-aging vaccine.
Created originally to prevent shingles, it appears to influence aging and cognitive decline - far beyond anything it was designed to do.
The beauty of science.

In America today, we rank 34th out of 35 countries in childhood poverty and millions of children are food insecure.
Maybe, just maybe, my Republican colleagues would consider holding a single hearing about how we improve the lives of American kids.
🚨 NOW — REP. CHU (D): Do you agree with Trump that you don't care about Americans' financial situation?!
SCOTT BESSENT: Who was the president during World War I?
CHU: I don't know
BESSENT: You don't know? [...] Trump does care. He is FUTURE-PROOFING. I can tell you Americans' financial situations would be devastated if Iran got a nuclear weapon, and there was a permanent shutdown of energy out of the Middle East. And I promise you President WOODROW WILSON — who was president during WWI — the Germans did not attack us. He got into that, it was a war of principle, and President Wilson felt the same.
In August 1995, Microsoft launched Internet Explorer.
The goal wasn't a better browser. It was to make Netscape impossible.
Netscape charged money. So Microsoft made IE free.
Then shipped it on every Windows PC on Earth.
And they were just getting started...
