curiously, enid accepts his dismissal of her concern about the comment itself with more grace than even she expected. the ease with which he talks her down from that particular ledge explains an awful lot about how he came to marry monica.

@diviniize //i have thought the same but tbh i think it’s linked a lot to nafessa living in LA and perhaps a degree of uk-us cultural differences (even stuff like going to the pub a lot which is very european). they talk about her in interviews a lot so must get on :)

Whilst Billy might have been hinting at his father’s odious behaviour, Enid lingers in the silence of the moment with all the things she knows Monica to have hidden, to have buried deep in a coffin bound with chains and padlocks and sprinkled with holy water.

the compliment hits where it should, as enid glows with pride and the tips of her ears flush the same shade as her lipstick.
