My speech at a @LabWomenDec event, on why the draft conversion practices bill is so troubling. Not an exaggeration to say this bill represents one of the most dramatic, disproportionate and illiberal incursions into our fundamental democratic rights 👇

Dr Max Morris can use the men’s or the gender neutral facilities. But the BBC is still pushing the perverse narrative that he should be able to share facilities with my daughters. NO. Women said NO.
How ironic that @BBCWomansHour celebrated 80 years by broadcasting from Glasgow Women's Library.
A library that, as @WRNScotland puts it, is no longer just for women.
In 2019, this venue refused a booking from @ForWomenScot - which didn't have the resources at the time to bring legal action.
This comes as no surprise to SEEN in Journalism.
We regularly hear from women who feel utterly let down by a programme built on women's voices.
A programme that has barely touched the biggest women's story of the last decade - the erosion of women’s sex-based rights and the erasure of women from the language used by public institutions.
And even when it dedicated a week of coverage to last year's landmark Supreme Court ruling, it platformed male voices. Including a man claiming to be a woman.
The actual women interviewed were ruthlessly challenged. They weren't asked, “Why do women and girls need single-sex spaces?” and given the space to answer without judgement. Instead, they were made to justify their perfectly reasonable positions.
On a women's programme.
Presented by women.

Hopefully the self-implosion of the Greens will lessen the impulse felt by Labour & @andyburnham to compete with them on the more extreme limits of ‘progressive’ (sic) politics like trans activism, & give Burnham the pol space to drop the damaging Conversion Practices Bill
Genital surgery is associated with high rates of pelvic floor and sexual dysfunction
Systematic review & meta-analysis examined 25 studies finds a high prevalence of pelvic complications among both male and female patients

"If we want people to trust journalism again, they need to know we’ll ask difficult questions - whatever the subject, and however uncomfortable the answers. And that what they’re getting is journalism - not activism."
Another man has now pleaded guilty in this forthcoming trial at Manchester. This poor woman’s husband has already pleaded guilty of course.
Many more men are accused of raping her while drugged and unconscious.
Horrific beyond words.

"If you are woman who knows biological sex is real, like the Darlington nurses do, we will protect your privacy."
Massive thank you to @KemiBadenoch for mentioning the nurses in her closing conference speech
Incredible speech from the indomitable Bethany.
Bookmark this and post it as a reply next time some gender cretin asks: ‘But why does it matter to you?’
Outstanding episode of @doubjeopardypod with Sarah Vine KC on the appalling Conversion Practices Bill 2026 - a dire Bill and a full frontal attack on Forstater, FWS and the human rights of most of the population
Well, self-id isn't lawful, so if any women in Oxford face harassment or discrimination on account of this, there are funds available to help you sue the council.
"Imagine telling your daughter, sister, wife or mother that if she objects to undressing in front of a man at work, she is the one who must leave. That was our reality.”
Powerful full speech from President of the Darlington Nursing Union, Bethany Hutchison, at the 'When Reality Meets NHS Policy' Conservative Party conference fringe event
We question why @bbcwomanshour has gifted a hosting opportunity to Glasgow Women’s Library, an organisation who unlawfully refused a booking to a women’s rights organisation in 2019.
Yet another inappropriate choice of many displaying a clear bias. Keep in mind the hostile questioning of rare sex realist guests compared to the easy ride given to the numerous trans identifying men / trans activists who have been invited on.
@suladoyle@BBCWomansHour@womenslibrary Several years ago @ScotLesbians, who were one of the Lesbian Interveners in the @ForWomenScot Supreme Court case, went to the @womenslibrary to access the Lesbian Achieves. In the past some of the archives have been on display but this is no longer the case & access was denied.
