BBC investigative journalist. Produced/Presented the Arias award winning Smugglers Trail + podcast hits Million Dollar Lover, Girl Taken and To Catch a Scorpion
The power of the podcast - days after we released our series, To Catch a Scorpion, the authorities in Iraq have arrested Barzan Majeed.

Journalist Sayed Qasim Hashemi and artist Hamed Ehsas, both Afghan nationals who fled Afghanistan immediately after the Taliban takeover, have been missing for over two months, since 4 July, from Islamabad.
Since then, their families have not been able to reach them since, and the police authorities have refused to register cases.
“The circumstances raise concerns that they may have been subjected to enforced disappearance or arbitrary detention. ”

For those interested in better understanding the migrants/boats issue, I can't recommend this highly enough. Serious investigative journalism that unpacks & illuminates. Should be mandatory for anyone offering an opinion. From @SueM1tchell and @GrinderRob https://t.co/fZn1c0n4MT
They should all be made to listen to the excellent reporting of @SueM1tchell, which maps out just how complex an issue this is - To Catch a Scorpion and To Catch a King are both on @BBCSounds
@SueM1tchell@Viv_russell1@SueM1tchell Thank you for making the BBC podcast To Catch A King. Happy paying my TV licence when it helps support the amazing work you and your colleagues do. Please don’t stop. You have built a powerful voice through your integrity, courage and commitment.
Here's this week's edition of The Media Show. With @MichaelLCrick@Gabriel_Pogrund Brendan O'Neil @SueM1tchell and Susan Aslan. And, of course, @katierazz at the helm. We talked about Nigel Farage, Prince Harry, doorstepping and much more. https://t.co/P6NyZH4UOf
Just been on Media Show with amazing Sue Mitchell, reporter on people-smuggling series To Catch a Scorpion & To Catch a King. The greatest broadcast journalist of our age: big subjects, amazing research, great courage in doorsteps. Why can't police catch people like she does?
@SueM1tchell

I don’t know if @SueM1tchell is @BBCRadio4#DeadRingers listener but we do let slip in the show tonight that we are all HUGE admirers of her and Rob ‘He’s ex army’ Lawrie.
Absolutely no doubt that @SueM1tchell is the best journalist working in this country at the moment, along with her official sidekick Rob Lawrie.
What an inspiration she is to young journalists just getting into this business 👏
@vicderbyshire Absolutely brilliant work @SueM1tchell - not only on the hard yards, but also having the guts to face a convicted gangster who quite possibly could have turned violent.
Clear, specific questions asked too.
A convicted people smuggler, once described as ‘the godfather’ of the French migrant camps, is living in Leicestershire and believed to be seeking asylum while working illegally, a BBC investigation can reveal https://t.co/J5mh0VFEcJ

The young men, all from Iraqi Kurdistan, were captured in Libya by a militia who demanded a ransom of $5,000 (£3,700) from each of their families, and threatened to harvest the captives' kidneys if payment was not made promptly. @SueM1tchell
