@Hafaz_the_1st Biggest scam.
I felt heartbroken whenever I saw a doctor that requested for Widal.
Though most times.. na our retired.. chronic MOs that do that, maybe it has to do with the fact that some of them are still using the obsolete diagnostic tools
The MDCN just dropped a memo on CPD, and we need to talk about the reality of what this means for every Nigerian doctor.
For those wondering, CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is basically the council’s way of ensuring we aren't practicing with "expired" knowledge. To get your license every year, you now have to prove you’ve sat through enough seminars and courses to earn 20 units.
In theory, this is great. A doctor who stops learning is a danger to the public. But in practice? It’s starting to feel like a subscription service we never asked for. We just survived a massive hike in annual license fees, and now we’re expected to pay separate fees to buy these CPD points.
If the goal is truly self-improvement and better patient outcomes, why isn't this training free? Or at the very least, why isn't it covered by the licensing fee we already pay?
It’s even more frustrating for our colleagues in the diaspora. They are already doing CPDs to satisfy regulators in the UK or US, yet they’re being asked to pay extra to keep their Nigerian license active. If a fee must exist, it should be uniform and transparent. A doctor is a doctor, regardless of where they are currently practicing.
What do you guys think? Is the MDCN overstepping with these extra costs, or is this a fair price for “standardization"?
The popular Kannywood actor, Sadiq Sani Sadiq, has begun grassroots mobilization against the Tinubu government.
We, the people of Arewa, will not sit back and watch rising insecurity in Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Plateau, and now Bauchi.
We must speak the truth and vote them out in 2027.
2027 indeed "Falle Ɗaya Ce"
