Class punishments are the quickest way to negatively impact your classroom culture. Your Ss who were grouped into the punishment will lose trust in you and will hold animosity toward the students who were at the root of the misbehavior. Avoid them at all costs!
6th Grade Ss used pixel art to create vocabulary representations of symbiotic relationships. First we used @alicekeeler ‘s pixel art template. Then we used legos to physically create our models of science vocabulary. They turned out amazing! #plap#tlap#LEGO#science
@teacher2teacher Start small and look for commonalities. Sometimes the idea of differentiation to individual Ss seems overwhelming. Find similar learning gaps so you can pull small groups and catch more Ss at once. An exit ticket is a perfect way to sort Ss based on need.
@teacher2teacher It all starts with establishing routines and procedures for collaborative conversations. I’m a huge fan of Kagan learning structures. I also like to support their conversations by providing students with language and conversation stems during collaboration.
My 6th grade Ss love these! They each worked on one after state testing today and were asking for more! Thanks @MelissaAndDoug! Tons of fun for ages 7-107!!!
@ESPN - next #30for30?
What if I told you more girls play volleyball than any other HS sport?
What if I told you the NCAA tourney was reduced by 25%?
And what if I told you there were no TV announcers for 1st & 2nd rounds?
@NCAAVolleyball
Why would a school require all teachers to have advanced degrees in education in order for them to be required to teach from a prescribed curriculum without deviating from the prescribed lesson plan? #Edchat
Have you tried a "show what you know" addition to the end of your assessments?
When T @SciGeekJulie gave the technique a try, she discovered a new opportunity to support her learners: https://t.co/dR2Wzbqt2w #edchat#BeTheOne#InstantPD
Change is uncomfortable and hard as hell. When leaders expect others to change without participating + holding themselves accountable - it’s almost impossible. When leaders show up and model the vulnerability required for transformation change - it’s often unstoppable.
Took a lot of things out of my classroom this year but was able to bring this in... Can’t wait to help mold my 5th graders into kind and respectful human beings along with life long learners! Is it September 8th yet? (just kidding my room is not prepped for that yet 😅)
