In @brexHQ bill pay & card data, a model router already transacts like a payments infrastructure: prepaid wallets, usage-shaped top-ups, and one bill across a fragmented supplier base.
The adoption data shows it sitting at the front door of new AI budgets, growing the providers behind it rather than eating them.
Openrouter holds the bill and, as a result, the budget, the controls, and the margin that comes with that position.

Stripe is reportedly in talks to buy @OpenRouter at ~$10B (#2 in Brex's fastest growing startups for Spring 2026). OpenRouter gives developers one API and one balance across hundreds of AI models.
At @brexHQ, we see that thousands of companies buy AI models across our card and bill pay data, and the number of companies paying OpenRouter monthly has grown ~36x in two years. The shape of that growth is the interesting part: in our data, Openrouter is a perfect target.π§΅
The newest companies adopt routers earliest: the share of each Brex cohort using a router in its first six months grew ~15x from the 2023 cohort to the 2025 cohort.
Spender agents will continue to see exponential growth. Corporate cards are how companies extend spending power to their team. @brexHQ has built that machinery for employees, and the data shows companies pointing it at agents rather than inventing something new. Agents are just the newest hire.
The checksum for every card number was patented by Luhn in 1954, decades before the swipes it now protects. Brex has the expense permission layer for company spend, and agents are arriving to find it already built.

π§΅: @BrexHQ data gives me a window into how companies are pushing the boundaries of AI, not just in the tools they use but in what they let agents do on their behalf.
The clearest sign yet: AI agents are getting corporate cards of their own.
Across all companies running spend on Brex, agent transactions grew ~7x this year, and the number of companies doing it roughly doubled. And the reason it's growing is that handing an agent a card on Brex requires little trust. (1/7)
The data supports a simple design: give the agent the same policy stack employees already have (limits, merchant rules, real-time auth) and let its purchases flow into the same controls, from auto-generated receipts and memos to Brex's audit agents reviewing the rest

@TSS_Raj The game within the game is playing the salary cap rules to build the best team. Why take the max and lose when optimal outcome is taking less and winning. Chess vs checkers
Proud that @usepylon is one of the fastest-growing vendors on @brexHQ π
Earlier this year we had another SKU cross > $1M ARR on its own, and we're working on even more bets to keep scaling our products.
From Account Intelligence to some very exciting AI that I can't say much more about yet π , there's a lot coming up soon.
Shoutout to our team for their incredible momentum and work to get us here.
