So, @edwinsifuna, you want to scrape VAT on fuel
1. Utatoa wapi pesa ya road dev projects?
2. Source of funds ya road maintenance?
3. In case of geopolitical shocks, like Iran-US war, how will you control fuel-based inflation?
Fala flani: Constitutionalism...
Can't you people just debate without adding stupid conversations like gender, patriarchy, wtf is wrong with you, so colonizers(Europeans) were/are matriarchs themselves?
If you want to understand why Africa is like this, just look at most of our male leaders.
This is why colonizers had to kill matriarchy in Africa. Because women leaders were more competent. They were accountable. You couldn't just bribe them to sell the whole village.
So what did colonizers do? They replaced them with greedy, corrupt men. Men they could control. And that system never left.
Look at the King of Eswatini.
His people don't have roads. They don't have hospitals. 70% of the country lives in poverty. Eswatini has the highest HIV rate on earth and people are dying of hunger.
And what is the King doing?
The man has 15 wives. He spent $24.4 million to buy 19 Rolls-Royces for them. 19! Delivered in trucks like he was sharing rice. In a country where people can't afford bread.
And that was not even enough. That same year, he bought 79 BMWs. Then weeks later, another 120 BMWs. Meanwhile he already had 20 Mercedes Maybachs and a private jet he bought for himself for his 50th birthday.
This is the mentality. Let the people suffer, let them die of AIDS and poverty, as long as the wives have Rolls-Royces.
This is the African male leadership we inherited. And until we change it, nothing will change.
It exists, but the crown rotates so everyone can bear the weight leadership. Richard Rohr in his book, “Falling Upward” noted less men are going to church because they hate sitting down to be lectured that’s why in most counsel of elders, men sit in a circle & contribute equally.
Literature remains undefeated. What Ruto is doing with Talanta stadium is exactly what Mr Tumbo did in Betrayal in the city and also what Meya Majoka did in Kigogo. Organize grand events at high costs while failing to address the basic grievances of the local people
Selective tolerance is interesting. People will passionately defend freedom of choice in principle, but become hostile when others exercise that same freedom differently.
On the Mercy Masika marriage counseling outrage,
Most of you are enraged because you don't value the institution that is marriage.
Some people value it & are willing to pay to get insights that they may not have. Let them be.
It is a free world.
