@LukeFHan A good movie is a good movie, I get it. but to me, the culture war is still raging, and supporting this movie will only embolden the same. I’m just tired of this junk…
@MrKingtero@USGS_Quakes Often the very initial locations and magnitudes are off. For early warning, they want first estimates and locations out fast because that will help with mitigating loss of life. Once analysts can review and pick more precise wave arrivals, they can get a more accurate location.
Ground shaking down S. Good size event. A little deeper in the thrust fault zone and no major tsunami's expected but people are still instructed to take precaution, some with a possible meter of water above tidal levels. Praying for minimal/no casualties (none reported so far).
Initial depths are always very difficult to determine accurately with automated systems. It seems the depth is 15 km, which is shallow enough to experience pretty strong shaking, but relatively light damage.
@MrKingtero@USGS_Quakes Yeah, no doublet identified, just a foreshock 4.7 and aftershock 5.3 so far. That doesn't mean there couldn't be more strong shaking in the very near term.
@LargeInStature_ Not all who disagree with your opinion are “white bedsheet wearers”, my man, and can “agree to disagree”. All I know is that I’m not the target audience for “The Odyssey”… and I’m okay with that.
@svdate This is equally stupid (IMO) as they do this anyway…
I remember waiting for the bus in the dark all the time in the winter.
If you don’t want kids waiting for the bus in the dark, move the start of school, but good luck with parents trying to get to work…
🚨 JUST IN: The US House just PASSED legislation to abolish seasonal time changes, making Daylight Saving Time PERMANENT, 308-117
The bill now goes to the Senate, supported by President Trump
If fully approved, this would mean NO MORE CLOCK CHANGES nationwide ☀️
Hold up.. now there's a *NEW* bill that has introduced: the "Sunshine for our Kids Act of 2026" which would make *Standard* time permanent
For Nashville:
Earliest sunrise in early June at 4:29 am (!!)
Latest sunset in late June at 7:08 pm
Losing one hour of evening daylight
@FiredUpCoug Meh, I’m really okay with either option, I’m just tired of changing. I’d prefer DLS so I have some light when I get off work. I can actually play with the kids some before it gets dark.
@hokkori_buzz I have no desire to visit most of Europe now because of the immigration issues, and lack of assimilation. France is unrecognizable now, relative to 10 years ago. I pray the US and Japan don’t suffer a similar fate…
