Why is #PPFAS Different from Other Flexi Caps?
Why Does Its NAV Remain Resilient Despite the Bloodbath on Dalal Street?
There are two reasons
1) Equity/rest mix-
Though these funds are being sold as an open-ended dynamic equity scheme investing across large cap, mid cap & small cap stocks, but, the provisions allow them to maintain in cases 65-35 percent ratio between (equity/debt or cash). Hence, all these though being sold as flexi-cap, they can be flexible on equity non equity mix. and PPFAS have mastered this mix.
Currently, ther mix is (80.03-19.97), whereas for Helios its (97 % for equity), Quant (91 pct) and Motilal (90+).
2) Exposure to India-
@PPFAS Indian exposure for CY-2024, fluctuated between 67-72 percent, 10-15 percent in USA blue chips. Whereas #Helios of @Iamsamirarora or #Motilal Amc or be it #quant, their exposure is 100 percent towards Indian #Equities.
So, if we were to compare the performance of PPFAS India-only Equity fund they underperformed, if compared to India-only Equity based funds. So, if you want 100 pct equity and Indian exposure, keep this in mind.
So, to summarize less exposure to India and less equity mix made it possible for PPFAS to keep their NAV stable.

#Chinese stocks are blasting higher by more than 10%. But, we don’t think the stimulus are enough to solve China’s economic problems or even its cyclical slump.
- The two out of three measures aimed at the real economy are more or less small, and inconsequential and not new. But the measures to manipulate the #stock market are new, unlimited, and significant.
-50-bps cut to the required reserve ratio, which could unleash CNY1tn in liquidity. But because the PBoC targets a short-term rate, it can’t just let that money slosh around the interbank market.
-Existing mortgage rates were cut, too, saving some CNY150bn in interest payments per-year, according to Pan. They did the same thing last year. It had no macro impact.
-Lower down payment requirements for second home purchases? Done that before, too. It didn’t lead to higher sales of new homes.
-#Reuters has reported that CNY1tn of special bonds will be issued to refinance local debts. But they’ve been doing this for a couple of years now. And there are at least CNY65tn of off-balance sheets debts.
-But what about the stock market? The #PBoC will set up a CNY500bn facility for institutional investors to higher risk assets for safe assets from the PBoC. This higher-quality collateral would then allow the investors to take on more leverage to buy more stocks.
-The PBoC will also open a CNY300bn re-lending window to encourage banks to finance the repurchase of stocks by listed companies.
- So, our best guess is that the EM fund manager who is being forced to buy China, not for its quality, but like other Chinese goods, it's cheaper. (50 or odd PE discount than India, not exact but a ball park number.)
