Cutting the mobile internet connection in Myanmar is significant for a number of reasons. Young people rely on mobile internet to mobilise and document protests. It also disconnects people in rural areas who may not have a fixed line or WiFi connection. Is this the new norm?
Makeshift barriers placed by residents at Bayintnaung Junction in #Yangon’s Mayangone were burning on Monday morning. The barriers were to prevent police and soldiers from sending reinforcements to Hlaing Thar Yar, where at least 30 anti-coup protesters were killed on Sunday.
