the gag is that whichever group ends up winning the grammy is basically walking away with what BTS left behind. everyone knows the recording academy kept inviting BTS because they understood just how massive their impact was and how much attention they brought from the general public, something a lot of other k-pop acts simply haven’t been able to replicate.
The rise of European artists did not trigger you to create new categories for them.
The rise of Latin, African, and Asian artists triggered you to create multiple region/language categories.

Reminding y'all that they did this without personal Weibo accs, mainland concerts, or any presence on Meipai and Douyin, before that one criminalbang fan starts fuming that we are lying about BTS being successful without efforts in China.
Elle India on Instagram:
“Nobody buying tickets in Los Angeles, London, São Paulo or Paris is asking whether BTS deserve to compete in an Asian category before they deserve a global one. Those stadiums are filled with fans from dozens of nationalities, many of whom don't speak Korean beyond the lyrics theyve lovingly memorised.
Creating more categories based on language or geography feels like a step backwards rather than forwards.
British artists, Canadian artists,
Australian artists and American artists, all predominantly making English-language music, have always competedtogether inthe
Grammys' biggest categories.
When an artist reaches that level of cultural influence, the question is no longer, "Why don't they have a Grammy?" It's honestly, "Why does the Grammys still need to convince the world it can recognise artists like BTS?"”
APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE!!! 👏 This is such a powerful statement

ART HAS NO ALIENS
having a gut feeling that one of the corny comedian host grammy gets every year will probably crack some weird joke to shade bt5 during the ceremony #hopenot
man i’m glad there’s a clear, loud and visible division between kpop & bts now. this was much needed, made our job easier in preaching bts is bigger & beyond kpop. we can finally breaaaaaaaathhhhh!
Mind you BTS have been on hiatus for 4 years. Kpop (and other industries across the continent of Asia) never stopped releasing music
But it’s only when BTS return that this “Asian pop” category is introduced
To say that this is about inclusivity is just a bold faced lie
I remember when The Weeknd said he was done with the Grammys, but I swear I don't remember this barrage of news coverage. Like there are hundreds of articles about BTS (and they keep coming), along with news coverage, and the main concern is the economic impact. Commercial air time is priced based on engagement. BTS brings millions perhaps even billions of raw engagement. So, that one statement from BTS is potentially millions maybe even billions of dollars of revenue LOST–and EVERYONE knows it.
2013 BTS and ARMY never saw this coming on our bingo cards.
When Namjoon said, "We'll find a way, and if there's no way, we'll draw the map again." HE MEANT THAT ISH!
