Overcoming this needs systems thinking, to think directly beyond the benefits you could provide to a customer with a product feature, to its wider impact on the long term business model and financial health
product prioritizations frameworks like RICE limits the thinking towards the upsides of a new idea. Ignoring the cost of something new can be disastrous for a business. For example, google AI mode, while improving the UX of search, could also kill its own Ad revenue model.
Interesting to see the whole H1-B drama unravel. I’ve always felt that this is an archaic system that doesn’t incentive the best talent to get the best jobs, especially with the random lottery picking. It would be way better if it is merit based and salary based, than pure chance
@restingforrest For comparison, look at these two images of buckingham palace. The one on the left is apple and second is Google earth. I find the former much more detailed and realistic.
@restingforrest Google earth is amazing. But after trying out this Apple 3D view in London, I'm quite blown away. I don't know what it is they do but it looks much more realistic.
@restingforrest And the overall experience of zooming, panning and rotating is just much smoother. With Gmaps you feel a tiny lag everytime you zoom in or out. Plus, you don't get ANY ADS when you are seraching for restaurants etc. It's all these tiny details but they make a huge difference.
@restingforrest Also the details in the important places in a particular area. I have screenshotted the same locale from both Gmaps and Apple maps and you can see how much clearer and more detailed apple maps is even without zooming in a lot.
@restingforrest So many reasons.. I think I should write a blog post on it.
I hate having my phone out while I'm walking in London, so with Apple maps you just need to add the destination and then your watch and/or your airpods can guide you there without having to look at your phone.

Wow, goosebumps listening to the voice of Shahul Hameed! Takes me back to the 90s. And no way I'd have expected an AI to do such a great job recreating such an iconic voice. Truly momentous indeed.
