Messi is at the bottom of the screen. There was an entire column of players when Messi hit the ball. Martinez was the 2nd from top.
Messi’s cross landed exactly on top of Martinez, he took the header and scored the goal. Such precision, in that tense situation, in injury time, makes Messi the greatest.
The amount of casuals who’ve fallen for the Anti-Argentina/Messi propaganda is mad to me. People I respect on here, who are obviously have never watched a football match in their lives, coming out with the most random crap because they’ve been told to think that. It’s crazy.
Messi is a dangerous player. If you watch that first goal again, you’ll notice he deliberately delayed the pass to Enzo until he had drawn every England player to himself. Only then did he release it. My God. It really is true that no one sees the game like he does.
Lionel Messi had never faced England before. He’d famously been told, in his prime, by deluded English commentators that he probably couldn’t do it on a cold and windy night in Stoke.
But at 39, he still could do it in an air-conditioned dome in Atlanta.
How do Argentina keep doing it? They continue to go to the well and it is never empty. How long they’ve played this summer never seems to matter. How far they’ve travelled always, inexplicably, counts for little. They draw on reserves most oil-rich countries must envy.
Energy is always found in one place deep down inside; it’s derived from giving Messi one more game. Another 90 minutes.
When every game feels like it might be his last the Argentina players make a sacrifice for their football god.

After this World Cup, anyone you see arguing that Ronaldo is better than Messi, don’t waste your time with him. Just understand that he has an iq of a camel.
Argentina will play in three World Cup finals in the Messi era.
And he led them as their captain, their top scorer, and their best player to all three finals.
Only 6 players in all of history can boast of playing in 3 FIFA WC final matches; none can boast of being their team’s best player in all three.
Do you know the crazier bit? Messi has won two FIFA World Cup player of tournament awards and he will certainly win a third regardless of what happens in the final.
He is above and beyond all. Past, Present and foreseeable future.
